Delicious but incredibly spicy
I know everyone has their own view on what constitutes spicy, but as a family that embraces all manner of spicy food, this spice mix proved far too spicy for our usually resilient kids. How we used it:There are some really big lumps of the various ingredients that make up this spice mix, which is reassuring if you are looking for an authentic experience, but not if you don't want to accidentally chomp down on one when eating your food. To get around this, we used a coffee grinder to grind up the small & medium pieces and left the bigger lumps whole. We added everything to yoghurt and marinated the meat in the fridge overnight. We removed the larger lumps before layering up our biryani - in doing so we got the flavour into the meat without the risk of a broken tooth. Our verdict:I would buy this again but only if cooking for adults who relish a spicy curry. If you want to cook for the whole family, have plenty of yoghurt on standby. I'll be continuing my search for a biryani spice blend that is a bit milder!

not bad but there are better ones
Good biryani mix but I like the plain one from Shan much better that this Bombay mix. I’ve also tried Suhana biryani mix which was even better than all other biryani mixes brands

Yummy.
Several years ago I attended an Indian cookery course and eventually learned to cook several dishes from scratch, which was interesting. One of my favourite dishes is Biryani, it has depth and flavour and not too many calories, but requires the correct mix of spices, etc, which takes quite a bit of preparation. Then I happened to chance upon this Biryani spice mix and curiosity got the better of me. The results are precisely the same as if I had spent ages preparing the spices myself, so why would I? Be careful to not put too much mix in with the rice, as it would become overpowering, use just enough for a fairly subtle flavour. I definitely would not use canned curry sauces, but this creates a brilliant authentic Biryani.

Good!!
Cooked a goat biriyani and it was ace!! One packet for 1kg of meat was enough and not too spicy - kids ate as well.

Expensive but can't make biryani without it!
Sells much more expensive than you'd get in Pakistan or an asian store but I get it for the ease from Amazon. I love this spice mix for making biryani.
