Excellent, most complete, affordable master set
I love tools. I love this Master star bit (torx) socket set. It has 5-point and 6-point sockets in various configurations (see product description). Some of these are either extremely rare or extremely expensive to buy separately if you ever need one. These are not Snap-On quality, but they will do for any shadetree mechanic. ATD are a middle-of-the-broad brand and OK. Cheaper to have a complete set on hand, for that one time you are scrambling to find the right bit, and none of your buddies has it in their toolbox. But the set. Now you will be the buddy who others come to, begging to use your rare bits. You will be the hero! Girls, these make a great present for yourself or your hubby. He is tired of receiving ties and socks.

Fantastic Coverage of Bits with Great Quality and Small Impact OK...
I have used a previous set of these for several years, even with a 295 ft. lb. cordless impact on the larger socket/bits with no damage...I know the warranty states no impacts whatsoever, but at my age I'm using a cordless impact more and more...As long as one uses some caution I believe that impacts are a viable alternative to ratchets..My Makita cordless impact has three ft. lb. settings which are about 0-75 ft. lb., 0-150 ft. lb. and 0-295 ft. lb...My guidelines are no impacts on the 1/4" drives when removing, the 75 ft. lb. max setting on the 3/8" drives, and 150 ft. lbs. max on the 1/2 drives...For the sizes in this set I haven't found a fastener the 150 ft. lb. setting wouldn't remove...I usually start with the lowest setting on all sizes to get an idea of what torque I'm dealing with and then move higher if need be...Bottom line, impacts can be used effectively and safely with diligence and caution of course... Since the sockets/bits have held up to mild impact settings I have to conclude they are of excellent quality for a non impact rated socket/bit set...I really feel the largest 1/2" drive bits could handle even more torque, but I haven't tested...If one were to use a 3-4 ft. breaker bar the results might be different...Even the very tiny bits worked fine, provided they were the correct size for the job at hand... I really feel the majority of failures with torx type bits are due to using the improper size...Usually using the standard T size when a TP or torx plus is required...In this case the lobes on the T bits will either break or round off in the T Plus fastener...Same goes when trying to use a 6 lobe to remove a 5 lobe fastener or vice versa...There is so much stress because of the improper matching of lobes and usually sizes as well, the bit will fail...So again, make very sure you're using the proper size bit...One might think only an idiot would use the wrong size, but when using the smallest bits, a mistake can be easily made if one is in a hurry...Especially if one is tired or in poor lighting...Been there, done that... My latest purchase of this set was because I feel the quality is superb and I was offered a really good price, so I bought another... kd

Does the job!
ATD tools are not the best but they work and they are at a price where you don't have to use them very much before they pay off. They are good quality. I recommend them for DIYers and professionals that know they are only going to use them occasionally. For heavy use, get something else with a hassle free lifetime warranty. All tools, even good ones, eventually break.
