Works like a charm
Used for a homegrown ESPHome project utilising LVGL - works without any hassle and as expected. Only small thing to be aware of, was the need to install the CH340 driver to be able to flash the unit...

Great screen, documentation could be improved.
Pretty good, programmed with the LVGL for home assistant, there is also openHASP which you can make work on these devices.Hardware is fine, nice it comes with flyleads for all the ports and mounting screws and posts. One star knocked off because the documentation on the waveshare wiki could use some improvement. I wanted to know the GPIO pins for the sensor port so I could use it for a presence detector (to put the screen to sleep when the room was empty) and I had to end up looking through their example code...as I just couldn't find it documented anywhere else. The use of a GPIO pin and a soldered on wire to the test point to have a brightness control is a little annoying, but you can turn the backlight on and off without it by toggling pin 2 of the ch422g. It also catches everyone out that if you don't enable this pin and set it high in your code the display won't be visible.Again none of this is well documented on the waveshare site. you have to hunt through what they do in their example code. Fix the documentation though and for the money this is a solid and well made screen and would be a 5 star review...the touch works great without any calibration, contrast levels etc are all good.

It's a lovely piece of kit but challenging to get your programs up and running.
It's a lovely piece of kit but challenging to get your programs up and running. I've used it with both eps32's panel driver and LovanGFX driver to great effect. I didn't want to use LVGL. The IPS screen is really good, especially compared to the usual tft screens. Not for novice coders but well worth the effort.Beware the I2C address usage of its onboard extender - it really does use loads of addresses up.
