The bolt joint broke off inside my 18 Tundra taillight housing and the slamdown tailgate has been driving me crazy. Toyota dealer asked for $250 to replace the strut set but then could not do it. They suggested finding a body shop who can weld the bolt on. Come on Toyota!This shock support is a good workaround. Just make sure not to put the strut upside down otherwise the gate does not close. 5 starts for the first day and I will see how long it can hold up.

Instructions not included. Doesn't seem very sturdy and does not fit 24 f150. It will work but it's not worth the money or hassle

Easy to Install: With the clear instructions and included hardware, this tailgate assist damper is ready to go out of the box and working on your truck within minutes; Wrenches are also needed to remove and replace the tail light during installation.i mean yeah except not a single instruction was included

It is easy to install, and great fit for my f150. Everything fit in place perfectly, there is no issue when tailgate assist went on. It does what it advertises. It slows the opening of the tailgate. I do not have to manually keep it from slamming open, which is what I bought it for, I didn’t notice any resistance when shutting the tailgate either. The last one I bought did not last long, I hope this could.

Operates as expected but, I wish that it would have come with instructions…there are a couple of different ways that this could have been installed…piston up or piston down, remove the first or second tailgate screw, etc.

5 weeks and bent and blown, spend the extra money and get the better version.
