This is not my first time purchasing this product. The first time I got the variety pack, and then I realized that this one had the best flex. And it's really the only one that I need for my own personal needs. It arrived warm to the touch.
My local brew supply store closed, so I thought I'd take a chance with Amazon one-day delivery rather than drive a great distance to by some at a store. Dry yeast is a living but dormant organism, and every time I have purchased it at a brew shop, it comes right out of a refrigerator as that is the best way to store it. When I get it home, it goes right into mine. It is summertime, and I had hoped it would have come in some kind of a cold-pack. It didn't, and I was disappointed when it arrived in a plastic envelope and the yeast packets were warm to the touch. I went ahead the same day and made a batch of hard cider with one of the packets. It seemed to take a bit longer than store-bought yeast to begin fermenting in earnest. After a couple of days, it seems to be doing well. That's why I knocked it down one star.

Use for Homemade Root Beer
I use the Red Star Premier Yeast for the first time in making Root Beer. The favor of the brew has improved 100% with Premier Blanc.

Product about to expire
Fair enough it was discounted / clearance but would have been good to disclose best before date was within 2 weeks of date of order! Does seem to be ok (used 1 sachet) and rest are now in freezer - fingers crossed.

Arrived intact and on time. I purchased this specifically to revive a stuck/stalled ferment, as per the supplier's advert. No luck yet. We shall see, I supose.
