Con: Finding the correct programming (original) online is less than obvious, a search for the UV-K5 programming software as above may assist. Nit Pick: The provided programming cable required excessive force and wiggling to insert into the radio - I bought a Retevis one from Amazon, which resolved the issue.The QUANSHENG UV-K6 is pre-programmed with an interesting assortment of channels in its memory, I have started to replace them with Ham Radio repeaters / simplex frequencies, but Marine, Aircraft and FM radio etc. may also be programmed.To write a comprehensive review would require a book... Suffice to say that with the original software, or CHIRP (Open source) the radio might be programmed according to choice.The popularity of the QUANSHENG UV-K6 centres around 3rd party firmware, which opens up a much wider choice of receive frequencies and even SSB / DSB options. A search on youtube will provide a wealth of knowledge in the use of, and customising, the walkie-talkie.I'll be taking it with me to Wales, along with my proper mobile rig, so can check the range and sensitivity more accurately with known signal sources. I live in a bit of a dip, so VHF / UHF radio is sketchy...5 stars for its versatility and potential, I've not marked it down for the programming lead as that may be just bad luck on my part. But purchasers should be aware a replacement may be needed.
