Worth it
Most shaving companies go with the strategy of giving you a razor for free or for cheap and then charging out the wazoo for the supplies necessary to keep using it. (See also “printers, inkjet”.)Henson takes the opposite approach. They’re going to build something like a tank, design it to use inexpensive and easily available supplies, and sell it to you once. It’ll look as good as new when your kids clean it out of your medicine cabinet when you’re gone.Did I swallow hard when I thought about spending $80 for a razor? Yes, I did.But this thing feels great in your hand and uses double-edged disposable blades, a technology that Gillette perfected around the turn of the century. Last century. You can buy those blades in packs of 50 or 60 for 20 cents each. One of the more popular high-tech, multi blade refills cost $3.50 each. By the time you’ve bought 20 of them you’ve about paid for a Henson. But how is the shave?Amazingly comfortable. If you’ve always shaved with a multi blade razor, you may not appreciate the fact that they work by pulling your whiskers a little. You feel that whether you notice or not.Closeness? You’ll probably take some more passes with the Henson. That’s why they make razors with multiple blades. But unless you’re Ron Swanson and have to shave three times a day, no one will notice. One other neat feature is that the design of the Henson is such that as it clamps the blade in place, it bends it to an optimal cutting angle while exposing a tiny part of the blade edge. It’s *almost* impossible to nick yourself. Finally, I just enjoy the throwback nature of shaving with something my great grandfather would have recognized. It started me down a road that ended up with a boar’s bristle brush, a cup, and my own homemade shaving soap and aftershave. There are a lot of things that we throw money at. Here’s one that will feel like a luxury, but still kind of makes sense.

Worth the money - don't waste your time, money, and face on cheaper ones
I was in the market for a shaver which wouldn't add much to the landfill and plastics problem. Many shavers today have too many blades and plastic parts which eventually just get thrown away. I liked this one when I saw it online, but it seemed too expensive, so I bought a cheaper one. Using the cheaper one felt like a hacksaw on my face, so I eventually relented and coughed up the money for this one. That was a good move. I tried it right away and I loved how much lighter and more maneuverable it is...and no nicks, burns, abrasions, etc., ... and with a single blade! I have used it twice since (once in the shower), and it continues to perform extremely well. It leaves my face smooth without inflicting any pain or discomfort.I really appreciate the engineering effort that went into the blade angle, channels, etc. And I like the way it looks and handles. This is a great product. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for this razor. You won't regret it.

Fantastic Razor--especially if you are prone to burn or are new at safety razors.
Ultimately the review boils down to this:- The razor itself doesn't have a terribly aggressive angle.- The small amount of blade exposed ends up meaning that it can glide over things like lightly-raised moles, blemishes, etc. Between this point and the above, it means I don't have as many "hot spots" on my face after shaving. I've used a few safety razors before, and always had that bit of sting when I'd put aftershave on. With this razor? It never stings and I don't have red patches that need to "cool down" after shaving. Additionally I don't have as many in-growns.- It's light--which may be a positive or negative depending on how you look at it. But if you're looking for a hefty steel safety razor that you want a ton of weight with, this is not that. But given the prior two points, I didn't find myself needing the- The channels behind the blade mean that cleaning shaving cream/gel/soap off of it is a lot easier than the other razors I've used.- Only negative I'd say is that I have bigger hands and with how light the thing is, a longer handle would not be amiss. But, given that it's a pretty standard handle-length, I'm pretty sure that's a me-problem and not a product-problem.So far I've been supremely happy with the product and my apprehension about shaving more often (due to the rigamarole, the grumpiness of my skin, etc) has been alleviated.Should've bought it sooner.

You wont believe the shave you get with this razor.
I am 84 years old, have a coarse red beard, and always have to shave my face two times to get a clean shave...regardless of the razors and/or razor blades I use. Double edge blades left my face raw. 5 blade throw-a-way razors were good but still unable to provide the smooth shave I desired.Yesterday, after research on many sites, I finally decided to take the leap...and ordered a Henson shaver from Amazon. Since I know I am able to return if not completely satisfied. Well, it arrived today...I immediately opened the shipping package and shaved my face.....wow...wow !!! What a difference a razor makes...I was skeptical of the manufacturers claims of a perfect shave. The razor is expensive...but gives an EXCELLENT shave...EXCELLENT. If only I had known of this razor years ago.......NEW INFORMATION: I discovered today, that after three shaves, I turned over the double edged blade...the reverse side is like a new blade...no need to dispose...yet, I will shave two more times with the reverse side before I change to anew blad.
