Clunky app, hardware seems to work though

It was simple to download the app and set up the reader, it connected flawlessly without issue to both cars I plugged it into. The limited number of vehicles supported made me a little suspicious because OBD-II is pretty universal. Despite the description not listing Toyota, it does support Toyota vehicles; however, not all vehicle years show in the app (Toyota Camry only goes back to 2010). However, it did connect and was able to read some engine data from my 2007. It provided much more comprehensive information from a 2023 RAV4, including things like hybrid battery voltage. The app is pretty clunky, though, it’s hard to tell what value it adds over a basic OBD-II reader and a Google search of the code. There is a section of the app that shows a “coin” balance, so it looks like this app is trying to provide more advanced diagnostics for a fee (I haven’t found a price list or anything, so no transparency here yet). I can understand the value-add they are going for here, but I didn’t get a premium Bluetooth scanner for an opportunity to buy more diagnostics. If anything, a free scanner that allows you to pay for diagnostics when they are needed is probably a better value. My oldest car (a 2000) has a recurring emissions code that I have to clear manually from time to time. Once I get a check engine light, I will test to see if it (a) reads the code correctly, and (b) what, if any additional information is available by purchasing a diagnostic. For now, the value added for a connected module isn’t worth the price premium this commands over wired off-line OBD-II readers.

Didn’t work

We weren’t able to connect it to the app for us to use at all. So it didn’t work.. but if it had worked I think it would’ve been an awesome must have for anyone with a vehicle in case

Another great scanner!

So I have recently picked this scanner up and another one to do some testing on. Let me just say I think these little scanners are pretty amazing given the price. I actually leave this one just plugged into my car and it keeps up to date on reading the analyzing the car. I don't actually need the feature, but it is nice to see it keeping up on my car. I also like how simple it is to clear a check engine light. I just recently had a gas emissions leak on my car, and in just a few seconds I was able to check it out, figure out the most likely culprit (gas cap) and order a replacement. One other thing to note that I do think is nice is the app. It is simple, and at least for now keeps up to date. I would assume even if it stopped updating, it would still be useful for cars past to present. Overall it is a great piece of software and hardware that I do not regret getting.

Ok piece of hardware, App is not

The OBD dongle just works. I have to appreciate that. What I don't like is that it ONLY WORKS with their app. You cannot connect to it independently of their app, which means that the software is as much a part of your purchase as anything. It is a free download so at least they don't get you twice on that but three issues: they require a weird amount of information to use, it's slow, and it's not user friendly. The information: it wants full time access to your location data, which is uncomfortable even on the face of it, but I for sure don't think it's absolutely necessary to pull trouble codes. They also require a profile picture before you can get any information. The app will not allow you to access the data it's pulling until you set up your account, smile, and say cheese! It's honestly just really odd and unsettling how bad that information is wanted. The app itself is slow and at times becomes unresponsive. It doesn't offer any visual cue that you have interacted with it until the menu changes. It's frustrating because you may tap a button, nothing happens, so you tap it again. Except the first time it actually worked just fine and now the second tap will register on the new screen, taking you somewhere you may not want to be. It's a frustrating navigation experience. That is already unfriendly, but also you can tell this app was run through a google translate or something the like. Things are labelled with weird words, and in some areas, unless you know exactly the info you are digging for, you may not be able to find it. Even if you do know the sensor data you want to pull, you still might have a difficult time!I don't think I can recommend this product to you, even for just rudimentary code pulls.

Works Okay Overall, App Not Great

It does what it's meant to do which is to read codes and give you live data from the car. I'm not a big fan of the app. It's pretty clunky and pretty visually unappealing and kind of hard to navigate. I also didn't like how much information it requested- you have to sign up for an account to use it, which is just ridiculous. That said, it will work for what it's meant to do and has already helped me diagnose a bad O2 sensor.

Works great for reading codes

The app requires you to register an online account for you to use at all. It works well for reading codes and checking for smog readiness. The app allows you to BUY credits, which I suspect is used for customization settings for certain cars.
