Review: Must Have for Dual Batteries - Seems all parties have been using this in upgrading to 2 batteries on their UTV SXS. Great isolator/ relay for that purpose to allow for key on circuit without tapping existing harness.
Review: Nice! - This wasn't exactly what I was looking for but it does the job and does it well. I was looking for an isolator and this doesn't really isolate the batteries until the ignition is off. I also installed this in a boat that doesn't have a true ignition source. ( push button start with a sealed switch that I couldn't break into ) I ended up running a small wire from the battery to a switch on the dash then to the isolator. I hit the switch to activate the relay. There is very little info anywhere on how this works so maybe I can help some future buyers. It is simply a relay swith. One large power wire from charging source to first battery, then another large wire from that same post to one of the top posts on the isolator/relay. Lastly you run a large power wire from the 2nd top post of the relay to the second battery. When you turn on your ignition it sends power to the unit which engages the relay completing the circuit between the two batteries, thus connecting them and simultaneously charging them. Turn ignition off and the relay disengages making it impossible for one battery to drain the other but also makes the second battery unable to be charged. ( why it needs to be a true ignition source )

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this isolator be able to handle a mech man 350amp ho alternator feeding two rockford fosgate 1,000 monoblock amps at 1 ohm with two kinetic batte**
A: 85amps to each 1000watt amplifier is plenty..... you want 14.4 volts steady.... i would start with a capacitor before this?? Is someone messing with me??? i am the only one that gets this... besides the man asking the question???? why is it wired for a full OHM? It should be fine at a half OHM!!

**Q: Will this work on my fishing boat? I have two batteries..**
A: Most boats will have a battery selector switch. #1 battery, #2 battery, Both batteries. If you do not have a selector switch this can be used to charge both batteries while the engine runs, but with the engine off you can draw down one (stereo, trolling motor, etc.) while still not affecting your ability to start with the other battery. How the batteries are wired (in parallel) will determine how your system operates. To use this relay you need to split the system, for example 1 house battery, 1 starting battery. The manual switch will still give you more control over your system, if you remember to use it.

**Q: Isolator becomes hot after a about 30 minutes of activation.**
A: There is no question mark here so there is no answer...only questions. The device is a relay, the 12-volt coil is the only constant heat producer and, if energized by 12-volts, should not generate much heat. The capacity, 80-amps, is a maximum for the relay contacts and connections, exceeding it or maintaining it constantly might generate some heat. If the device is mounted near the engine, or in the sun, it could be warm from the environment. What is "hot." Are all the connections tight? Is the load near the maximum 80-amps? Is the coil seeing more than 12-volts? Are the wires involved in the 80-amp circuit gauged large enough to handle the current? And, you may have a faulty device.

**Q: Will this allow the alternator to charge main and auxilary battery while car is on ??**
A: Yes. Properly installed the device separates the main battery from the auxiliary battery when the engine is off. When on, both batteries are charged.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must for those adding a 2nd battery
*by F***A on September 22, 2019*

Installed this isolator in my trunk to go along with a 2nd battery. The isolator makes sure both batteries are connected to each other while the car is off. If they weren't I'd eventually end up with 2 dead batteries. You can verify your connections are correct with the use of a DMM. While the car is off, check the voltage of the front battery and then the 2nd battery..the results should be different. Yet when you turn the car on and do the same check. You'll have the same voltage on both batteries. Front Battery + to Stinger Circuit Breaker (inline fuse) to isolator located in the trunk. The other terminal will connect to another Stinger Circuit Breaker. Which then connects to the positive side of my 2nd Battery. Isolator has 2 more additional connections. One goes to ground, while the other can go to a multiple of locations. I have it connected to my fuse panel with the help of add-a-circuit.
