I had planned to replace the switch and housing using everything that comes with this item, but due to the age of the hoses in my tub and their rigidity, I was worried about cracking one of them. I decided to just unscrew the switch itself from the housing, and it was an exact match for the old switch and thread. It screwed right in and immediately worked perfectly.
