A Happy Tail, Pawly Punctuated
Let me give you a rough (a rough, rough… errr ruff, ruff-ruff ruff rRuUFF) idea of How, HoOOOOOOWWwww we found it:Some dogs will doubtless find this to be a book they can really get their teeth into and it could be suitable for early readers as it is all developed from a single word which is often repeated, kind of like Dr Seuss on steroids – powerful ones that make your eyes bug-out and you can’t stop drooling. A word of caution, however, it is full of four-letter words and one small dog who heard us quoting from it aloud was terrier, Fido.No background is given to the origins of this book, though it reads as if it may have been based on a compilation of cherished and inspired conversations. However, as it lacks punctuation including speech marks, this is difficult to be certain. Some of it may have been quite poetic, some of it may have been playscript, or both. Were iambic pentameters considered? These surely would have been a bone-us!I won’t quote at length or even at short from the book, as this would amount to plagiarism but I can observe that the opening paragraph is expounded or at least repeated throughout the entirety of the book though paragraphs at least allow for a paws in between.I guess a lot of the power and passion of such a book is in what the reader brings to it in their recitals but it could have been more imaginatively presented. This book is not yet available on Audible – which some may find to be of great consolation. If I’m honest, I think there was room for a little more imagination on the part of the amanuensis. Some would undoubtedly say that to spend £7 on this content, you have to be barking mad!
