Does not fit 2013 or 2018 Ford Escape
The air filter is almost 1/4" too long for the Escapes. I had to return them because of this. Bought it at Autozone and they fit just perfectly.

This air filter fits and works as expected!
The media could not be loaded. I looked at many reviews for this air filter, and I was curious how so many people had "issues" with it fitting their vehicles, and many had no issues at all. I appreciated the lower price for the filter, and decided that I would give it a try myself for my 2014 Ford Escape SE.I noticed the "troublesome" tab that people had mentioned, and I recognized that the old (dirty) filter did not have one. Was this going to be an issue? No, all I had to do is make sure when I was installing it that I had that tab pointing straight down because the air box has a notch where that tab can easily fit, so no problem there.Next, I had noticed that the filter length seemed just the slightest bit too long, and I could not get the "ring" of the filter to fit into the groove on the edge of the air box. This seemed to be something that a lot of people complained about, and said that their filters did not fit. Well, it took me some time, and some muscle, but this filter DOES actually fit, but you have to use some strength to push it into place really hard. When it is seated properly, it is a VERY snug fit and the filter is not going anywhere! My final issue was getting the cover back onto the air box. It appears that the previous technicians have stripped the holes where the screws go in, and it was difficult to align the box onto the top of the air filter AND line up the holes for the screws to secure the top down. Well, I managed to do my best, but my advice is to make sure that you do NOT OVER TIGHTEN the screws when securing the lid. Doing this will create a situation for you down the road.Overall, I am very satisfied with the product, and I appreciate the lower price I found on Amazon! I hope this review is helpful, and check out the step-by-step process I provided in the video. Best of luck!

just need the correct technique and then it's easy (compared to my initial battle with it
Finally got the Ford filter to fit (2013 Ford Focus). I'm convinced that nothing is wrong, just need the correct technique and then it's easy (compared to my initial battle with it!).To make a long story short, the solution was to pre-squash/compress the new filter, so when you install it, it's easier to compress it down to fit.I placed one end on the floor in my house and pushed down moderately, and did the same with the other end down.It was MUCH easier on my 2nd attempt. I am pretty sure the length did not change much (I think I noticed at one point that the old filter still seemed shorter), but made it easier to compress/squash it while installing it.Make sure you keep an eye on the stupid "tab" (you'll understand when you get the filter). It's easy to break. Have the tab at the very bottom / straight down and keep watching that it stays aligned with the filter box. What is the tab needed for anyhow? The filter looked symmetric to me, and it fits so tightly...This is why I think there is no "length issue":Notice the dirty/original filter looks like Ford squeezed/compressed it on - the creases in the paper are not straight. If you compress the new filter, notice the creases are similarly no longer straight... I wonder if they compress it not only so it fits snugly, but also to open up the air filter creases = more airflow.AV61-9601-AD is stamped on the original filter, AV61-9601-AE is stamped on the new one. Not sure if that means anything though! Both are made in Mexico, all other numbers on the filters matched is my recollection.Note that Fram filters are also "too long" - nasty reviews on Amazon, but Fram is likely the same length as Ford's.

Definitely the correct OEM filter for my '18 Focus, and it DOES fit!
I've read some reviews in which people say they can't get the filter installed because of it being too long, incorrect size, etc. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I have included a photo to show the new Motorcraft filter next to the original, factory Motorcraft filter. The other photos show where the singular tab goes into the housing, both before and after installation. As other reviewers have suggested, it does NOT require oil or banging on it to shorten it to get it to fit. In fact, DON'T do that.First, while making sure the singular tab on the back of the filter is facing DOWN, gently press the round opening into the engine side, then lower the back of the filter into the slot, as seen in the second photo. Make sure the singular tab is lined up with the slot. Then, just above the singular tab, press the filter IN toward the engine, as you lower it into the slot; see the photo of the tab in the slot. The two tangs in the filter housing will be OUTSIDE the filter, as seen in the center of the photo. Voila! The cover is ready to be lowered onto the filter housing for the final step of the installation. Don't over-tighten the 8 millimeter screws.Don't pay attention to those reviews that say it isn't the correct filter. It most definitely IS, you just have to follow the correct procedure to install it. It fits tightly for a reason; this prevents air from bypassing the filter as it's being sucked into the engine.I hope this helps! I'd hate to see people buy a lower-quality air filter because they think this Motorcraft filter won't fit. You can't beat OEM. There is serious value for the money here.

Nice
Watch the video. The key is to line up the tab on the bottom. It will slide on to the right spot.

DOES NOT FIT 2015 Escape 2.0 without modifying
High quality filter BUT doesn’t fit 2016 Ford Escape 2.0. Prior to buying this filter I purchased a Fram filter and it wouldn’t fit, so I returned it and bought this FORD filter. Apparently the same manufacturer is making all the filters exactly the same so none will fit correctly . The filter had to be replaced so I had to cut the rubber ring off the filter (approximately 1/4”) to make it fit.
