Based on reviews from other customers that said the swimming suit run small I bought this in size 10 instead of an 8.When dry the swimming suit fits perfect, however, once it's wet, the fabric gives and it becomes too big.I should've talked to a real swimmer for advise hahaha.So, it the intended use of the swimming suit is to actually swim, I'd recommend to buy the size your kid normally wear, even though it may feel a little snug when dry. It'll be perfect once it's in the water. But, if the swimming suit is just for lounging by the pool, a size up will be more comfortable.By the way, I bought this model in sizes 10, 7, and 4. Once the girls got in the pool, in every case, the swimming suits became a little big.The quality is great and I will strongly recommend it.

We purchased a size 8 for a size 7 young girl (she's shorter than average, weighs 47 Lbs.) and the fit was perfect. The colors match those our local high school swim team chose which was a great bonus for our little swimmer. (Her swimming instructor is on the high school swim team.) We've had no issues with this swimsuit. The quality is exceptional; after many trips to our community pool, this swimsuit looks as good as the day our little swimmer first put it on. There have been no loose threads, elastic, or seams coming apart. With several washings now, the colors remain bright and true . Thanks to Speedo and Amazon!

I read the reviews and bought 2 sizes up. It fits beautifully. It's bright and stays in place. She had been wearing it for about a 1 1/2 months when she noticed the gripper elastic on the thighs, it must not bother her if she only noticed it after looking at it. I like that the suit is basic with no dips or strange cuts in it. She swims all year long and doesn't need a cutesy swim suit, she needs something that will last and be of good quality. This is still cute but functional. I'm hoping it lasts until summer but you never know. For now we both like it.UPDATE! We've had the suit for 6 months now and it is definitely showing signs of wear. There is some sagging in front and the colors are definitely not as bright. She wears it at least once a week which means she's worn it at least 24 times, not a huge amount, no more than what you might expect some kids to do over summer. It still stays in place and it doesn't ride up which is a huge plus. I have noticed that some of the elastic is weakening around the neckline and a new suit will be needed sooner than later. Overall, still a good purchase but I'm not as thrilled with it as I once was.

My daughter is in swimming and needed a new swim suit. We tried to look at the local Sports shops but here in Texas they do not sell swim suits year round so I was getting worried we wouldn't be able to get her a new swim suit. Then we tried to find one through Amazon and we got this one. It is a nice fit, nice cut for a 12 year old if you ask me, it is practical, nice to look at and not to high cuts for the legs. I asked my daughter what she thinks and she tells me it is great, so we may order another one so that she has two swim suits.

my 7 3/4 year old girl is 50 inches and 59 pounds...not a stick. The size 10 slightly loose on the back but totally usable now with a few months of growth for it to be perfect. If you need for actual racing now I would go with an 8, but would be snug.quality appears great, straps and bottom dont move...no distractions. I want to see what the chlorine does to it as they advertise the color will last longer and i assume it will not "sag" as quick from chlorine. we shall see but i am impressed so far.UPDATE: DOWN to ONE star from 5 star...the side panels and part of the area around the "butt' have completely stretched and begun to "disintegrate" from the chlorine. probably worn 15 times only...i already bought a 2nd one and will ee how it wears..MAYBE i had a bad one? however as of now this lasted less than a $15 bathing suit.

My granddaughter wears size 10. This suit was too short and did not fit. Will be saved for her younger sister

My child is tall and slender 8 y.o. girl. When she tried it on, the lower back of the suit was too large. It was not proper fit at all - to the point, it would be improper to wear to the pool.I made couple stitches on a lower back and adjusted the fit.I am pretty satisfied with the results now.The suit itself is beautiful. Other then the back, it fits well.

This suit is perfect. My daughter typically wears a size 12... or 14 for a loose fit. This size 16 suit fits her perfectly. I recommend buying 1-2 sizes larger than your girl's normal store size for jeans and underwear etc. This is a great quality suit - typical of Speedo brand.
