A Superb Bit Of Equipment
Amazon should describe this (less confusingly) as a compact microphone and instruments pre-amp.I find it very difficult to improve on the review by Peterman. I too had a Shure SM58 microphone, a good sound card but very inadequate signal levels. My voice-over person has a lovely but fairly quiet voice. Having her very close to the mic produced too much proximity effect. As soon as I plugged up the MIC800 I knew this was the answer. It has all the facilities I need and more. For instance if at some point I get a condenser mic, this unit will provide the required 48 volts. My recordings now sound superb and retain all the quality of the mic, having previously lost some of the top end with a noise reduction filter. There is plenty of clean, warm volume, now going into the line in input. For me the SM58 still needed a pop filter - but they are cheap enough. For output a mono 1/4" jack is needed. For my sound card this goes to a 3.5mm stereo jack, wired for mono.So I recommend this unit very highly, together with good prompt service from Yourspares.

Amazing value
This is amazing value teamed this up with a Behringer XM8500 ULTRAVOICE Dynamic Vocal Microphone and the sound is crystal clear at all vocal settings. I even used it to record my sons electronic drums, brilliant ! For the money you cant go wrong, and it's got phantom power if you wish to use a condenser mic! Plugged in my mic to the xlr input connected it to the input on my computer and opened up Audacity (a free program)and away I went. The only problem is it's very light ,had to secure it to the desk with some double sided sticky-back tape.

Disappointingly noisy and poor range of effects
I bought this to get a quieter mic amp to feed in to my otherwise excellent Zoom R16, and the effects would be a bonus. It isn't noticeably quiter than the Zoom's mic amps, and the effects left me cold. While it's not expensive, it doesn't achieve anything very much.

great pre amp for pennies
Again Behringer have produced a great product which is affordable.the difference this makes to recordings is briliant. The warm settings really improve the sometimes sterile sound of digital recording.

Excellent bit of kit
I actually use this along with a Monacor ECM-310W Electret Microphone to amplify my flute in the bandIt allows me to enrich and modify the tones to suit the environment we are playing in without compromising the range and pitch of the flute

Compact Preamp unit
I use this for the Behringer C-3 Condenser Mic and I must say it does the job. Nice clean sounds recorded. Small and compact and very light. One small bad point is that the unit is designed to interlock with the other Behringer Mini series, ie, the equaliser and the headphone amp. The base of each unit has feet that lock into each module, but the base one tilts backwards with the weight of the cables, this is a small annoyance but one I felt could of easily have been avoided. Other than that one bad point, I would recommend this for small home studios.

Counterfeit product
Looking back at my previous orders and came across this unit i bought on Amazon but never did use. Looking closely looks like i got a counterfeit unit hence why it never worked properly.
