This game is a fun way to continue the barrel of monkeys idea of creating a monkey chain but turns it into a balancing game. My six year old and I really enjoy it. We have lots of fun with it and have played it many times and in different ways. It was easy to assemble, easy to figure out.and well made. I think it's definitely safe for a six year old. A sure fire hit for a affordable gift for kids.

After reading the reviews about the magnet not being strong I decided to do an experiment...my version will hold ALL the monkeys excluding the four large monkeys of each color. This being said, I purchased the game in 2015. HOPEFULLY THE MANUFACTURER SEES THIS AND FIXES THE MAGNET PROBLEM because otherwise this game is a lot of fun! It is made of quality plastic and does not feel cheap. My 3-yr-old son (who has some delays...) loves to play (not quite by the rules) and enjoys setting it up as much as playing. Placing the monkeys gently on the tree is great for his fine motor skills, and the concentration on his face is priceless! My only complaint is probably the spinner. It's difficult to get a good spin and frequently lands in between monkeys a lot. If they fix the magnet issue, buy this game!!

When perusing Amazon for another fun, random gift for our 4yo son's birthday, I came across this unique find. Thought that for the price, it wouldn't hurt to try it. It turned out to be a big hit among the same aged children and adults too. The tree hangs magnetically and you have to balance out the monkeys w/ each turn to keep the branches from falling down and crashing --what fun when they do, however. BIG surprise that produces lots of screams and giggles. I have a 2yo daughter and I wouldn't worry about her putting these in her mouth. No official recommendation w/ regard to safety, but I, personally, don't worry about it as a choking hazard for younger siblings. The box it comes in is pretty cheap, so don't expect to re-use it much. We just transferred ours to a plastic tub. Easy to assemble (takes 1 minute--unlike games like Don't Break the Ice, etc.) We are buying another one this Christmas for a cousin who attended the family party.

I purchased this game for my 2 year old daughter (almost 3). She loves it! The biggest problem: the magnet is not strong enough! You can only hang about 4-5 monkeys on the tree before it falls. The picture on the box shows many more monkeys hanging on the tree, but it will really only hold 4-5 before crashing down. That being said, my daughter loves this toy, it's great for fine motor skills and learning to take turns, and I love that there are no batteries to change!

I bought this for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas last year. He loved it! No reading is required. You spin the wheel and then add a monkey. You either add a small monkey or a large one depending upon what it lands on. The idea is to place monkeys so they balance on the tree without tipping it over. A 3 year old, 4 year old, and 5 year old all played it and understood it. A very fun and entertaining game for young kids without tons of rules that bore them. Also, there were no tears. When it did fall when someone placed that last monkey in the wrong spot, they laughed. So, a great game for young players.

Kids enjoy this game

I used this game while working in the schools as a speech pathologist. This game was motivating for the kiddos-they loved the brightly colored monkeys, and the alligator ready to eat up the ones that fell into the water. It was a little difficult for kids who have fine motor coordination deficits, but they were generally able to improvise. Giving the monkeys as rewards for attempting targets was effective for me.This game sets up quickly for fast practice of speech sounds, or whatever you may use it for! Great for teaching or just for fun :)
