BE58U is a solid router and great as a mesh component
This BE58U router is my second ASUS router. My first, an AC66U has been repurposed as a mesh node on my new Asus mesh network. The BE58U is probably overkill for my needs - about 20 connected devices over 3 floors and 3200 SF home. No gaming but 2k Netflix and other streaming. I have no devices that currently use wifi 7 and since the AC66U node is only wifi 5 there's no dedicated backhaul channel. First, the BE58U by itself seems to have slightly less range across both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands than the old AC66U router. If I was using this by itself, I'd be disappointed and probably return it. As a mesh router using the AC66U as a node, it's a whole different story. Coverage and speed across both bands is vastly improved and at least part of my home is future-proofed for wifi 7. Much better set-up than my old TP extender set-up. In a perfect world, I'd have a wifi 7 tri-band router and mesh node but cost is an issue. For now, a dual-band wifi 7 coupled with an older wifi 5 node gets the job done nicely with room for future upgrades (maybe a cheap Asus wifi 6 router on E-bay?) BTW, setup was easy, no random network drops or resets, unit runs relatively cool, no network incompatibilities or glitches. I've had none of the issues mentioned in any of the negative reviews - at least not yet and never had issues with my AC66U. The Asus software and phone app are easy to us and provide a lot of useful information. The network security tools are also very good. I consider this a solid value and the mesh network a real upgrade in house-wide coverage.

Refunded
Sadly, when I got it, it only worked for an hour or maybe two. Went through multiple times to set it back up again and again throughout the night. Seemingly, it wasn't just me when I looked up the trouble I had with this router. Ended up having to refund it and get a different router.

Works good for connection and speed the settings for certain things don't.
So far so good was an easy setup took 10 mins max. Configuring the settings isn't hard but parental settings do not work. You can't block URL with this or anything. I tried some of the DNS filtering settings for family they have built on it blocks certain devices from even connecting so I was forced to turn off. You will have to look up guides and hopefully they work if you do want clean browsing it blocks websites that it shouldn't and you have to pay monthly for configuring access. The coverage/range has been good all devices connect fine through my whole house on wifi so 1200sqft or so. You can choose to set two different wifi channles for 2.4 and 6 incase some aren't compatible. Quality seems fine I recommend but not if you're looking for a simple plug up set some simple settings for safe family surfing.

Good router
Works great. Easy setup. Has an app for your phone to control everything in the router. Distance is a little weak. Look into getting another Asus router to extend the wireless range with Air-Mesh.

Super Fast Delivery
It came the next day, literally when I really needed it the most. I was back online faster than I could say " ASUS ". Its also very reliable, fast, and can handle way more devices than my older ASUS model router. I love this thing. Best item Ive ever bought from Amazon.

Perfect for My needs
solid construction, good range , and asus quality. I have bought several Asus routers over the years , and this one is no different . Not the easiest to set up seeing that IP6 protocol is disabled my default Tried other routers but support updates usually end it about a year. Not so with Asus

Award Winning Warranty? I don't think so....
Final UPDATE 03.17.2026 After being contacted by ASUS service on March 3rd I was offered a newer model RT-BE86U. On March 6th I received RMA email instructing me the exchange process. Option 1: Package and ship the old router at your expense and they will then ship you the replacement (Being told to allow 7-10 business days for the turn around). or Option 2: The RMA email has a link to a payment portal where give ASUS a payment hold method and they ship it to you. After you box up the old router you then ship it back to the return address supplied at your expense. The least expensive cost to use their FedEx label was $25. After several days I receive another email stating that the router was checked in and the hold was removed from my credit card. I really did appreciate the ASUS USA representatives handling of the exchange and am grateful for the outcome even though I did have o pay $25 to ship the failed unit back, also the time and effort spent to get this resolved. So 3 stars it is. UPDATE 02.26.2026 Received an email from the Service Department for ASUS. The Representative was very helpful and would get back to me within 2 days. Looking much more promising! UPDATE 02.25.2026 Received this email: Reservation team is currently allocating a possible replacement. You should receive the authorization hold amount form once a replacement unit was allocated. Kindly allow our reservation team 2-5 business days for allocating a model for your replacement. Please be advised that the replacement turnaround time overall is 7-10 business days. Rest assured that we check for updates with the facility daily and we will let you know once there is a model allocated. If you have any questions please feel free to chat with us. I tried the chat link to get more information on what they are sending me and it goes to "We can’t connect to the server at icr-am.asus.com." UPDATE 02.24.2026 Received a phone message from level 2 person. After several disconnects trying to reach someone at the phone number provide on the message I was able to get through. The level 2 person stated that she that there are no replacement units available (factory re-manufactured units. They do NOT replace the unit with new one). She now has escalated the issue to the "Replenishment Department". She stated I will hear from them in another 2 days. After another 22 minutes on the phone the wait continues..... OP: Installed unit Jan 20, 2026. Feb 22. 2026 the LAN ports fail to communicate with the internet. Firmware updated. LAN cables swapped with known good ones. WiFi works fine. Case opened today after a 35 minute call. IF replacement was available it would be 14 business days before I received it AFTER I send the faulry unit first. However, no replacement unit is available. I was told I would be notified in 2 business days with an update as to what can be done to resolve this issue..... Is this how ASUS normally handles their warranty issues?

I use it as a main router that feeds my mesh network. I like Asus products. Never seem to have issues. It’s nice to keep up with the increasing internet protocols (wifi 7). Setup is fairly straightforward.
