I received the xtool d5 today. I immediately open the box and noticed how great of build quality this thing had. The interface is one that i love because of the graphics and the easy to navigate interface. I feel in love with this on my D7S. The tool arrived with an 80% charge, so i plugged it up to get a full charge as it updated. Setting the tool up was the easiest I've ever had as this consisted of login in to my xtool account and completing all updates which took about 15 minutes. From there, I went outside to test the tool on one of our daily commute cars that has a tpms light on the vehicle. I was able to go into the diagnostics and see if all sensors were working properly. After inflating all tires to spec, I was able to relearn and reset the light. I then drove around for 30 minutes and all good. I would definitely recommend this tool and it will be in the glove box of my wife's commute car. I may get the d5s to put in the glove box of my commuter as well. Overall, xtool has made me a believer that you can have a reliable, functional, and modern tool at an affordable price. Pick this one up for quick and easy Diagnostics. Oh yeah, I also checked the error code on my sister's car and found her check engine light was on for a misfire.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this solely for my daughter's car since she is away at school. The price point was right and it gives her the ability to scan her vehicle if the check engine light comes on. She had that happen and we found that the cheap bluetooth scanner I had in her glove box wouldn’t read the active code because it was a TCM and not an ECU code, time to upgrade. She can keep this in her car and just call me with the code info in case the check engine light comes on. Certainly cheaper than a single trip to the dealer for diagnosis. I have another Xtool scanner at the house so I am familiar with the interface and can talk her through pulling data and codes, although it is pretty intuitive. This scanner also has quick access to the readiness tests to see if the vehicle is ready for state emissions testing. It has live data screens as well so we can see what the vehicle is doing in real time.The scanner is very compact but the screen is bright enough to read without issue. The updates downloaded pretty quickly and it seems durable enough for our use. The tablet unit has a cover over the USB C charging port and an SD slot. I’m not sure what the SD slot is for as all of the available updates were able to download directly to the tablet. It has rubber on the edges and feels durable, not cheap.Some scan tools require a subscription per VIN or require a subscription to get updates after a few years. That isn’t the case with this reader. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about buying anything for a scanner that hopefully isn’t used too often. It also doesn’t require an internet connection to use it, just to download updates and send reports. With the easy of use of the scanner I may just end up with one in every vehicle.

This is perfect for the DIY-ers! Love the simplicity and how easy it is to use. This reads 4 modules but sometimes the simplicity is the best thing. It reads all you need to see and will show enough to diagnose a car. This is definitely a must fellas. A good truck scanner to always have when needed. You can view all data or custom to selected few. And xtool listened to us. They added the battery voltage! They do take your feedback. My favorite part was customizing what I wanted to see and then being able to see the graph there and thenScreen fits perfect in the glove box. The data live update is very responsive and does allow you to see data fast.This is perfect for first time owners of a scanner or those who have the ones with all the bells and whistles like the D9S or D8S and just want something to use quick outside the shop.I really like this thing. Keeping this one to replace my a30 pro

WASTE OF TIME..ONLY reads back to 1996.. ONLY reads "some" Fault codes, but no description of reasons for faults.. AUTEL is much better at this...I bought for CKP sensor calibration//this tool cannot perform on 2014 Chevy.. WTF??..I HATE being "LIED" to about diagnostic equipment WE Professionals Techs need.. (Snap On is now $8,000)
