Good Historical & Cultural Overview
Lonely Planet guides are renown for the quality of their content. This guide does not disappoint. The Philippines is a hard country to describe well. LP succeeded.

Great Book
... with one small error. The information about electricity was wrong. The country runs on 220V.

Can be used in reality, esp. solo traveller!!!
After reading one chapter about bacolod, iloilo, I went to join Masskara festival last october and Dinagyang festival in iloilo on Jan 2018 , following this guidebook advices. It's very useful and practical , heplful about planning my trip from beginning at the NAIA confusing terminals and transfer to domestic travel and then to downtowns both Bacolod and iloilo. It's highly recommended.

Next Destination
I like the important info they have on Getting Around. Cebu would be my next vacation spot, as long as I get the seafood.

Great tour guide
Great tour book. It was extremely helpful on my recent trip to the Philippines. The section on commonly used Tagalog words and phrases and cost of the different attractions were of particular help.

Great book
Very helpful book! I learned so much about the Philippines. Now I’m well educated on the country for my trip and I know where to go. Came in the mail super quick.

A really solid guide for anyone heading to the Philippines. It’s packed with practical details about travel routes, local customs, and must-see spots, all written in the clear and friendly tone Lonely Planet is known for. The maps are helpful and there’s plenty of background on culture, food, and history, which makes planning a trip much easier. The only small downside is that some sections feel a little out of date, especially around transport and accommodation, so it’s worth double-checking online before you go. Still, it’s a great companion for travellers who want to explore beyond the main tourist areas.

I've used it to travel in Palawan and they show so many secret places to go. Be careful with the reservation to travel from Coron to el Nido. We went in February and the regular transports were full for weeks (you can always found a private ship to travel but a much higher cost). Be aware of the prices in advance, Philippines is cheap (at least comparing to europe) but they will try to get more money if they can. Nevertheless, the nature is amazing there, food is so good and the people is nice.
