Sonos Sub 4 - Wireless Subwoofer - White

This is a truly impressive subwoofer. The review is linked to my experience with the Sub 4 and Arc Ultra. If you want a more in depth review please check out my experience with the Arc Ultra. Positives: Great looking with horizontal and vertical placement options, premium plastic materials and solid feel (in fact it’s quite heavy). It’s extremely stable with the force cancelling effect keeping it incredibly stable and vibration free for something as powerful as this. It’s insanely powerful especially in a smaller room and paired with the Arc Ultra. The bass reproduction is great and low end extension can reach as low as 25Hz and I can believe it. The rumble and effects it creates is amazing and really amps up the whole cinematic experience with the arc ultra. Music sounds fantastic with plenty of bass in the right frequency range and movies feel almost like in the cinema. You can hear and feel most explosions and low end effects with a real kick in my sofa and chest. For the insane amount of power and bass it has there are no reverbs or any issues with the sound reproduction. The internal design is quite something in the way they tunes it. Although it quite powerful it doesn’t overwhelm the bar with bass and better still you can adjust the volume and bass from the app. Connectivity is limited to WiFi and lan but works well with WiFi 5Ghz supported and unlike the arc ultra I had no issues connecting it first time. Negatives: It’s quite powerful so your neighbours might hate you:D It’s expensive and only works with other Sonos devices so must consider the option before buying. It’s recommended with the Arc Ultra and from my experience with this set up it’s a great pair albeit it very expensive one (definitely not for everyone’s budget). Not a negative for the Sub 4 but the Arc Ultra has insane levels of bass on its own so for some people it will make the Sub a harder choice. Final thoughts: When paired with the Sonos Arc Ultra this Sub 4 is just amazing and together they provide a true premium cinema experience in your home. If you are after some of the best sounding system in a fairly small package this is a great choice.

Well what can I say this unit is phenomenal, I entered the world of Sonos a week ago and it’s replaced my tv speakers and surround system, the quality and power that comes from this sub is amazing and connectivity and setup is a breeze. My only gripe is it’s expensive but your buying a premium sounding subwoofer, definitely recommend this to add to your Sonos system.

It’s easy to set up. I also purchased a Sonos Arc Ultra and two Sonos Era 100 speakers and paired them together. Sound is really good but I don’t know how much difference the Sub 4 makes. I didn’t check the dimensions and it’s quite a bit larger than I thought, so check them before buying

Yes the sub adds so much depf to my overall sound and makes the hole soundsystem come to life I so recommend this sub 4 to anyone that has a sonos sound system!

I was so impressed with the sub adding it to my Arc and surround speakers. And when it works you can feel the sound. However I am not impressed when it can be a gamble that the speaker plays any sound, oh that will be because it needs updating , again. Or want to listen to music through all speakers not a chance. It is probably down to the App. But it is pain. And probably 50/50 that it works. So out of four speakers only the Arc works 100% of the time.

I originally bought the Era 300 as an everyday speaker for my apartment, but I always missed the full home-cinema experience I have back home. When the White Friday deals came around, I couldn’t resist picking up a second Era 300 along with the Arc Ultra—and I’m glad I did. This setup is seriously impressive. In an apartment the size of mine, a subwoofer genuinely isn’t necessary with the output the Arc Ultra delivers. That said, since the Sub 4 was still on sale, curiosity got the better of me. Once everything is set up— which, depending on the mood of the Sonos app, can be a slightly stressful experience — the results are outstanding. Is the Sub 4 essential? No. What it does add is a deeper, richer low-end to both music and movies without ever becoming overpowering. You could make it shake the room, but as a bit of a purist who prefers a flat, balanced response across all channels, I appreciate that it adds weight without calling attention to itself. My only real concern is volume. I live on the top floor, with neighbours below, and sub-bass travels through concrete far too easily — the last thing I want is to be that neighbour. Bottom line: For most smaller rooms, the Arc Ultra alone will deliver everything you need. The Sub 4 isn’t essential, but it does noticeably enhance the overall dynamic range. Add to that the clean, unobtrusive design, and it’s a premium upgrade — just not a mandatory one.

High quality finished and sounds good

Quick setup and fantastic sound. Compared to the Bose system, I find this to be less overwhelming when watching tv but delivering the booms and pows needed during movies. And for music, this bass does not disappoint. Any deep note you want to hear, it will be delivered on a silver platter. 5 stars.
