It split the audio signal beautifully, with no noticeable loss in audio quality
I purchased this 1x3 XLR splitter to split audio out of a mixer and send a feed to a camera and digital recording device. It split the audio signal beautifully, with no noticeable loss in audio quality, no feeback, no added noise, and no issues. They also make a SP1x2 if you just need to split audio to two devices instead of 3. I would definitely recommend this product.

Isolating Vocal FX for Harmonisers etc -- Perfect
I wanted to use a TC-Helicon Harmony GTX whilst not affecting either the gain or nature of the original signal (sometimes the gain knob on the harmony pedal gets knocked)This device gives a straight through Mic connection to the mixing desk, and allows me to split off an isolated signal for modification and adding to the desk via its own channel. The result is that the Mic gain is controlled by the desk and safe from knob twiddling on stage, and the harmonies are completely isolated.

Quality Product
Whirlwind has always impressed me with the quality of their product and this is no exception. With it's all metal construction, I'm not worried when I have to place this product in a place it may get stepped on or kicked, it can take it. The signal that is split comes out just as strong as it went in. The ground/gain switches take care of any humming or buzzes that want to work their way into the line. Overall, a quality product that you can 'set and forget'.

Splitting the house mic at venues always gives us ground noise. The isolator gets rid of it. Saves us every time we step into a hotel venue.

I wish I had known about these years ago!
I am a traveling performer, who uses voice and often a musical instrument. I bring my own Countryman vocal mic fed through my own wireless system, and bring my own mic and stand for my instruments. I usually travel by plane, so I don't bring my own amplification system. Instead, I use my mics with the house system. But I also want to record directly from the outputs of my wireless and my instrument mic. The problem is how to get the signal into both my digital recorder and the house system.Over the years, I tried carrying a series of small mixers (but even a medium-sized Peavey mixer introduced too much hiss). Then I tried using two mics simultaneously for voice and two more for the instrument, sending one of each to the recorder and the other to the house system; that was bulky and awkward on stage. I also tried sending my mic output into a recorder and then sending the output from the recorder into the house system. None of this worked consistently well. There had to be a better way. Then I bought two of these Whirlwind IMP 1x3 splitters - and my problems have been solved! I just plug my vocal mic, for example, into a Whirlwind splitter, then connect one of the outputs into one channel of my recorder and another output into the house system. Then I do the same with my instrument mic. Now, all I need to carry extra is the two Whirlwinds and four short XLR cables. Perfection!I have found that I sometimes have to send the direct output of my wireless or my instrument mic into the house system, lest I get hum. But other times I get hum or noise unless I use one of the isolated outputs (sometimes with the ground lift on; other times with it off). In any case, some combination always works. The Whirlwind has never failed me. I get pristine amplified sound in the room and pristine recorded sound - every time. Now I'm considering buying a third one for video use in my office, so I can split the signal from a vocal mic to go into a JuicedLink preamp (and from there into my camcorder) and also into my digital recorder. (My camcorder adds some hiss to the mic output, so I don't like to rely on it as the sole recorder for the audio. Sometimes, though, it's nice to have the option of not substituting the digital recorder track in Premiere, when the sound quality isn't so critical.)I can't recommend these splitters enough! I just wish I had known to use them all along.

While I did not purchase this via Amazon I own ...
While I did not purchase this via Amazon I own 2 Whirlwind part# SP1X3 [mic-level]I work in television and need to document events sometimes. Usually I will get a soundboard feed at Line Level using a Whirlwind SP1X3LL Line-Level model of this splitter. If I am close to the stage though I try to split the main or 2 mics before they goto a stagebox or snake to Front-of-House with approval by the FOH sound guy.The signal level at each isolated output is 6 dB lower than the level of the direct output. So a tiny bit of hiss may be added when you make up the gain. When doing things with only a couple of mics and I will be there the entire time if there are 2 mics say at a podium and on a mic stand then I can make my own mix from these 2 sources and not have any issues with a soundboard feed preamp noise/AC power buzz or hum or feedback. If you are at a hotel and the AV department who set it up and giving a soundboard feed and not an AUX out but only a MAIN OUTPUT and the main out is set to 20% and the operator is without knowledge about gain staging then this is very helpful. I can also close down inputs not in use lowering noise in my mix. It's also helpful if I want a clean feed from a vocal mic from a singer and if I want to add my own reverb for this mic which I can turn on and off if they are talking for a mix for broadcast TV/documentary.This is the way to take also have a backup feed for a TV crew. 1. take the soundboard feed from front of house and also split the podium microphone on the stage.
