Good price for the kit, but NO USB output - 9-pin DB9 serial only
As far as a quality push-pull force gauge goes, this one will do the job. It's a good value, and it's easy to use - the display is clear and easy-to-read. The kit comes in two plastic cases (which is really nice to keep a precision instrument relatively safe), and includes a certificate of inspection. The rechargeable battery is also a nice touch.HOWEVER - It does NOT include USB output - only 9-pin DB9 output. Of course, you could likely use an aftermarket USB-to-DB9 serial interface successfully, but it shouldn't be advertised as 'USB output', since there's no native support. I was tempted to knock it down to 3-stars, but it's such a decent device otherwise (it's likely much more substantial than you'd expect - the instrument itself weighs more than 1 lb)So - if you're good with the old-school industry standard of serial output, you're probably going to find this works for your needs.

Perfect for my needs!
I used it for hours at a time, and the battery never lost more than a third of its assigned charge. I haven't used more than a third of the stretch range yet, nice gear!

NEEDED TO TEST STRENGTH OF MATERIAL
A relatively light duty strength tester. This is usually used to test break strength of supporting material. The testing range is only 220 pounds of stretch breaking or pressure/weight failure. This is a nice measurement tool to have around when needed. The measuring tool works well and is a good value for light duty testing. 220 pounds is about the maximum weight of a large number of workers so safety lines can be tested for failure after use and wear to insure proper operation. Light lifting cable, rope and chain can also be tested for strength and safety. You can check old worn tie and ratchet straps for safety. This is a destructive test for failure. Which is good. A material that fails this test is not suitable for safe use. A nice extra to check marginal safety straps, ropes and support materials. A nice device to have on hand to insure strengths of safety harnesses, lines and straps. It takes the guess work out of the strength of safety materials. Recommended. Larger strength models are available that are much more useful.
