Bounty Hunter Pinpointer for Metal Detecting with Audio Signal and Vibration – Handheld Precision Tool for Accurate Target Location

After you locate and dig the hole this pin pointer really locates the object quickly. If your detector doesn't come with a pin pointer then this is definitely needed. And this is a really good one. I don't think you need to spend more to get better. This works like a champ. Doesn't make a lot of noise just vibrates after locating the object. Wouldn't want to metal detect without it. One 9-volt battery. Can't go wrong with it. This is an update just to let you know some people say the battery cap falls off time to time. Not mine. If you connect the wires to the battery and insert it with the wires going towards the inside the cap fits right and doesn't fall off.

Bought this recently I really like it. It vibrates really nice in your hand when it gets towards metal and it works as advertised. I just wish it had like a beeping sound RCH

Just to quickly let everyone who wants to buy this in the future, I just got mine in but I have yet to field test it. I did air tests of current dime, penny, nickel and quarter, and I got an average of 1/2 an inch away from target before it buzzed. You need to get about 1/4 of an inch or less towards the object if it's on it's narrow side. They claim 3/4 to 1 inches away from coin sized objects, but I never got that. IMPORTANT NOTE: the strongest field of detection is NOT THE TIP, but it's to the side of the tip. Trying to detect from the tip will result in extremely poor detecting strength. Hope this helps any person with doubt! For the money, you can't beat it, and I can't wait to use it! Btw, for as cheap as the product is compared to competitors, it feels very strong and not flimsy(my battery case was a little flimsy, but nothing tape can cure!) EDIT: I have finally field tested this product and it saved me loads of time digging especially on shallow digs. Lots of times my items were in the sides of the hole rather than down in it, and this picked them up perfectly. I love it!

I might be a bit biased, but this little metal detector saved me some decent money and the wrath of my wife. You see, we just got married. When we were buying wedding bands, I chose the comfortable but slightly snug fit. Of course with my vaaaast history of wearing rings, I decided to ignore my wife's comments about getting it smaller because it seemed too loose. Well, winter came a long; and as I was cleaning the snow off the car window with my bare hands, the ring flew off my finger and into the snow. Fail! Lost the ring, and definitely deserved a "told you so" from my wife. I spent hours looking for it. Even when the snow started to melt, I couldn't find it. So, in order to salvage what little dignity I had, I bought this little device as a long shot. Well, I found it in about 5 minutes. Victory! Its range is pretty short. We are talking less than 1 inch from the tip. But if you know where you are looking, it works well. It is not the best idea for large patches. Honestly, I probably got a bit lucky, but I felt pretty sure it was in a 6 foot radius from my car windshield. It may really only deserve 4 stars, but how can I not give it 5 with a story like that?

I got this to help me with my gold nugget hunting. I had recently watched one of those shows they have on air about people who dig up artifacts/relics and they use these things to help them pinpoint the location of the object the find initially with their metal detectors. If you have ever used your metal detector to find small objects, like gold nuggets, you know that it is a slow process to dig and then run your scoop over the detector to find the item making your detector respond. This process can be very tedious and time consuming. I thought the Pinpointer would help with this due to what I had seen on the TV about these sort of devices. The problem with the Pinpointer that I found out after using it is that the pinpointer has to essentially be touching the item to make it go off. I had hoped that if I got close, say within a few inches, it would go off. This thing hasn't made that tedious chore any easier. At least with the cost of this pinpointer, I didn't waste too much money. Learning curve.

Bought this unit and have never looked back. Like the fact that it vibrates rather than beeps. I've read some reviews that complained that the probe had to practically touch the object before it would sound off. I have not found that to be the case. Yes, it could be better. I'd like to see a pushbutton on/off switch, a screw on battery compartment cap, and maybe a molded ring on the butt end for a tether clip, but those features would make the unit far more expensive. Spend all the money you want, but for less than $50, you won't find a better pinpointer. One more thing, the Fisher and Teknetics line of detectors are built in the same factory by the same folks that make the Bounty Hunter line. The company is called First Texas Products. Their machines come with a 5 year warranty, which I believe is the longest warranty in the industry. You might bear that in mind the next time some snob tells you Bounty Hunter products are trash.

I live in Northern Florida and most of the soil (if you can call it that) is SAND. I either have to sift most of the stuff I find with my Gold Digger metal detector or I got smart and purchased the Bounty Hunter Pinpointer Metal Detector which I did. Like it says in the listing, PINPOINTER. People give this item bad reviews because they are so used to finding things with their metal detector which is a lot stronger than the PINPOINTER and are misled by thinking this is a stand-a-lone metal detector. This is only to use to find something that your METAL DETECTOR has already hit on. I use the Pinpointer by sticking it into the soil after I have dug it up and just go from side to side in rows until I get a hit. MY VERY FIRST FIND WITH THE PINPOINTER WAS A 1936 LIBERTY DIME IN THE WOODS ACROSS FROM MY HOUSE IN ONE OF THE AREAS THAT WAS ONCE THE WORLDS LARGEST AMPHIBIOUS TRAINING FACILITY IN WORLD WAR TWO. CAMP GORDON JOHNSTON! THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS PINPOINTER IS THE END POPPING OFF. BUT THAT CAN BE REMEDIED WITH TAPE. AND ACTUALLY IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO TAPE IT ANYWAYS TO PREVENT DIRT AND CORROSION FROM ENTERING THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT ESPECIALLY HERE IN FLORIDA WHERE RUST IS PROMINENT.

I received the pinpointed in time frame stated when buying. Just getting into metal detecting, and so far this things works great! I am pleased.

This is an excellent product, it works very well. It is a good size and easy to carry with you. Metal detecting is easier with a pin pointer. I love this product and use it all the time.

Finde den Pinpointer klasse ! Vereinfacht das suchen nach dem orten mit der Sonde...hab keinen Vergleich mit nem Anderen. Funktonieren tut das Ding aber prima :) Könnte mir nicht vorstellen das ein anderer Pinipointer den Zweck besser erfüllt !
