What receiver/amp combo would go best with this speaker?

I purchased a Plye receiver with mine, I love the sound quality of the set.

These are the worst built speakers I ever purchased. The crossovers have burned out - specifically one ceramic capacitor on the board - even burnt the board black and bubbled it. This happened on every one I bought. The first one I found a snot filled face mask, those paper dust masks you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot. The snot was dried and "glued" the paper mask to the inside of the cabinet. It was disgusting. All I can say is DO NOT BUY THESE!!! They sound good and better with the 18" subs. I have behind 3000 watt amp that drove these two PADH212's. But these speakers are NO GOOD and do not last very long before burning out. Pyle customer service is non-exsistant, and they do not help at all. Amazon was kind enough to replace the defective products but the replacements ended up with the same issues. I sold the pair for $200 on Craigs List. I recommend buy Peavey or a very known reliable brand - NOT PYLE. Be warned. By the way - these are built in China. I think the Chinaman who built them thought it was a joke on Americans to put a nasty snot mask in the cabinet.

I payed a little under 200 bucks for 2 speakers! they are about 4 feet tall by a foot and a half each! Great sound!!

can you connect this speaker to a laptop

As Michael said then you cannot hook the speaker up directly from your "Laptop To Speaker"But all you have to do is have a receiver or an amplifier as well.It would work like this "Laptop To Receiver To Speaker" ... in this case, you just get a cable like this (http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Audio-Cable-12-foot/dp/B000067RBT/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_y) which connects your Laptop to Receiver. and then you use normal speaker wire from Receiver To SpeakerIt is the came setup as mentioned above if you use an amplifieruse a receiver if you want to also be able to listen to FM/AM radio, and plan to hookup more things like a DVD Player, TV etc. it gives you more options to hookup more things, but it usually gives out less Watts. You still would be able to get a good sound out of the speaker this way.Use an amplifier if you just plan to hookup only your laptop. An amplifier gives less options of hookup many things, but it usually gives out a lot more Watts, so you would get more power/base/sound of your speaker.
