Needed extra tent pegs as it was going to be windy on our camping holiday these pegs did not let us down they are made from galvanised steel and despite the rough ground they did not bend and held the tent firmly in place brilliant value for money would recommend to others.

The Smith & Barker tent pegs are made of garvanised steel. This means that they should not rust. These pegs are 4 mm and seem pretty sturdy. I’ve put pressure on them with my fingers but they didn’t show any sign of bending. Unfotunately, I won’t be able to properly test their sturdiness in the short term, considering the wet weather forecasted for the time to come. I’ve already taken these pegs with me for camping. I’ve used them to secure my tent to the ground. As a result of the rain from the previous days, the ground was wet and soft. So, I didn’t face any challenge to push these pegs in the ground. So, I’m not in place to provide any additional comment about their sturdirness as this feature could only be properly tested during the summer when the ground is dry and hard. In addition, the weekend was not windy, limiting the challenge that these pegs had to face. Considering all these caveats, I can say that the pegs fulfilled their goal well. The quality of these pegs is not premium. The edges at the bottom and the top of the pegs are irregularly finished. Most of them are sharp and rough. But if you handle them with care, they should not be a big threat for your physical integrity while manipulating the pegs. But it’s not ideal. I would like to note that one of the photos on this website shows the pegs as if they would end in a spike. That is not the case at all. These pegs are short (15 cm). Overall, they seem very basic camping pegs. Despite of all the statements from the advertising, it’s difficult to find a reason why you should buy these tent pegs. Maybe just for their price. Just under 4 pounds for 10 pegs, it doesn’t sound bad.

When I received these tent pegs I was surprised by the sharpness of the ends and actually thought they were cut a little roughly, as my previous tent pegs are flatter at the ends. After looking at the product images, I noticed one which showed the tent pegs having pointed ends, as though they had been purposely shaped but when looking over mine, they were quite different.I would definitely be careful when using them especially near the tent material as I think the ends could scratch or even rip. I would probably wrap the pegs in something first before putting them into the peg bag that I already have with my tent.The pegs do seem to be pretty strong and go into the ground fine with a few taps of the hammer.Some previous tent pegs I have owned have bent when trying to get them into the ground, so these ones do seem better overall and look like they are made of better materials.I am not completely sure how well they would keep down the tent guylines, particularly in windy conditions, since they don't seem to have much of a crook at the ends of some of them but they are a better replacement for the ones I already have.

These are badly finished, with jagged ends that are a cut risk to hands. One of the listing images show them to be pointed, but they are not. They also claim to be ‘NOT BENDY’ in the listing title, which is incorrect, they do indeed bend, and several had to be set aside.The hook is quite open, so they don’t hold line as well as they should, and need either bending more or putting in the ground at a flatter angle. They have become tarnished after just one camping trip of five days. Not that much going for them really, apart from the fact they are cheap (currently £4 for ten). No likey, and would highly recommending choosing something else.
