One of the most wildly popular horror movies of all time, Stuart Gordon’s enduring splatter-comedy classic Re-Animator returns to DVD in a stunning 4K restoration packed with special features! When medical student Dan Cain advertises for a roommate, he finds one in the form of Herbert West. Initially a little eccentric, it some becomes clear that West entertains some seriously outlandish theories – specifically, the possibility of re-animating the dead. It’s not long before Dan finds himself under West’s influence, and embroiled in a serious of ghoulish experiments which threaten to go wildly out of control…Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s classic terror tale ‘Herbert West – Reanimator’ and featuring a standout performance from Jeffrey Combs as the deliciously deranged West, Re-Animator remains the definitive example of ’80s splatter mayhem and one of the horror genre’s finest hours.SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS4K restorations of the Unrated version Standard Definition DVD presentationOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingMono, Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound Audio Options Isolated ScoreAudio commentary with director Stuart Gordon and actors Graham Skipper and Jesse Merlin of Re-Animator: The Musical Audio commentary with Stuart Gordon Audio commentary with producer Brian Yuzna, actors Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Bruce Abbott and Robert SampsonRe-Animator: Resurrectus – feature-length documentary on the making of the film, featuring extensiveinterviews with cast and crew Interviews with director Stuart Gordon and producer Brian Yuzna, writer Dennis Paoli, composer Richard Band and former Fangoria editor Tony Timpone Music discussion with composer Richard Band Barbara Crampton in Conversation – the Re-Animator star sits down with journalist Alan Jones for this career-spanning 2015 interview The Catastrophe of Success: Stuart Gordon and The Organic Theater – director Stuart Gordon discusses his early theater roots and his continued commitment to the stageTheater of Blood – Re-Animator: The Musical lyricist Mark Nutter on adapting the cult classic for musical theatreExtended Scenes Deleted SceneTrailer & TV SpotsStill GalleryScreenplay (BD-ROM Content)Reversible sleeve with newly commissioned artwork by Justin Erickson Review: VERY UNIQUE MOVIE TO BE MEMORABLE - First of all, people are complaining about the bluray quality but it was ok for me. the sound was pretty quiet the whole time but the picture was ok. I can see there is a lot of spots out there since it was shot in film and they cannot clean out all the dust enough since it is a B movie and all, but there is no grain or mashed up area. The picture was pretty clean the whole time. I lately found out that in Korea(Where I live), this same movie sells in like 2 $ for dvd but I sill am happy that I purchased in bluray with the amount of 8.18$ plus the shipping 3.4$. I am not a huge fan of Stuart Gorden and the only reason I purchased this movie to be honset is I saw the review from facebook from a director No Zinsoo and I thought maybe I should take a try. Then I saw this movie from imdb and surprised that it got the score of 7.3, You know what that mean? The horror film that has more then 7 has a lot of meaning. The only film I know that has that higher score is CABIN IN THE WOOD so far. I was more then surprised and I really had a high expectation for this movie before watching it. Then I finally loaded this bluray into my player last night. It was clever, deligent and funny at the same time. It's not a zombie movie or vampire movie or even frankenstein but it is all mixed up. The scientist who invented the liquare that if he inject it into the death human, they re-alive. The fun part was when this guy who has his head chopped out got injected both his body and his head, both part re-alived. That part was so geniously funny. The director used the framming and played with it to look the head as if it is really talking. It's scary and funny at the same time. The problem with the liquare was when being injected, the dead body bacomes very offencive. The whole movie was not a comedy at all. It was dead serious and that made this movie so unique. The ending seems very sad and kind of open ending at the same time when this guy's fiance died and he decided to inject to her body to make her re-alive. Since we know the side effect of that liqure, that makes us more sad. I lately found out that he worked for Disney classic HONEY I SHRINK THE KIDS. Also he wrote for the famous indie filmmaker ABEL FERRARA for the movie BODY SNATCHER. I also was surprised that he directed the movie which I owned and haven't seen it yet. I cannot wait to watch it. He is not dead yet but stopped working since 2007 which is sad. Review: Jeffrey - Good movie

Art du Art from Stuart Gordon
The first venture into the horror genre by Executive Producer, Brian Yuzna, featuring Director, Stuart Gordon, in an excellent screenplay written by Dennis Paoli and Stuart Gordon, infused with element of black humor that repulses and shocks, leaving the audience between revulsion, horror and bleak laughter, constituting one of the most controversial cult classics which has garnered a worldwide fan base and cult following, that practically launched the career of the Brian Yuzna/Stuart Gordon pairing and rendered them a force to be reckoned with in the horror genre that features an iconic soundtrack that is comparable to those of Amadeus, Immortal Beloved, Everybody Says I Love You, Singing in the Rain, The Terminator, Hellraiser, Tales from the Crypt, X-Files, and Beauty and the Beast, which, nevertheless, features less than commendable performances by Jeffrey Combs (who plays the part of the arrogant and somewhat demented Herbert West) and the ever captivating Barbara Crampton (who plays the heroine Megan, whose physique had yet to develop into the break taking one reflected in From Beyond), both of whom made their feature debut in this horror flick and, as a result, were relatively inexperienced in the art of acting, in a story that much like the famed Monkey's Paw revolves around the theme of reanimation, based upon a story by the legendary grandmaster of gothic fiction, H.P. Lovecraft (which is characteristic of all the early ventures of the Brian Yuzna/Stuart Gordon pairing), witnesses Herbert being expelled from a university for conducting live human experiments that brought Dr. Gruberk back to life in an experiment gone awry using a revolutionary reagent that has enabled him to conquer brain death, and being accepted into a university that sees him under the tutelage of Dr. Hill, who claims that there is no feasible way to conquer brain death, only to find himself attempting to steal credit for Herbert's reagent when he discovers that Herbert has used his reagent to bring Dean Hall, Megan's father, back to life after he was butchered to death resultant of an experiment with a patient who had died of heart failure gone awry, ironically, to find himself being beheaded and brought to life by Hebert, and, having being so brought back to life, finding him attempting to satisfy his obsession with Megan by literally giving her head while she is being spread eagle (the iconic moment of the movie which caused a stir with the MPAA, and the most memorable and talked about moment of the movie), and Dr. Hill bringing forth to life all reanimated corpses for which he has gained controlled through the process of lobotomy (which in a pseudo-scientific way enables him to hypnotically control the reanimated corpses), which Cain, Megan's boyfriend and Herbert's co-conspirator in the illegitimate experiments, manages to put to rest when Megan elicits a flicker of conscious thought that enables her father to rebel against Herbert's control and enables him to collude with Cain in disposing of all the reanimated corpses, and, being driven to the brink, witnessing Cain making the same mistake that Louis Creed did in Pet Sematary with his son, Cage, and his wife, Rachel, in another movie that alludes to Monkey's Paw, by attempting to bring Megan back to life by injecting her with the reagent. A ground breaking movie that comes with high recommendations.

Miskatonic University has just welcomed its newest student and resident madman, they just don't know it yet! Herbert West is completely obsessed with the thought of re-animating dead tissue, he just hasn't perfected the procedure until now. Through a series of misadventures and failures at the University, Herbert West reluctantly shares his re-animating formula with fellow medical student Dan Cain. Gradually Dan gets sucked in to helping Herbert carry out his horrific experiments on corpses and together they go beyond the point of no return. Welcome to H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator, a true cult classic in every sense of the word and truly worth owning on Blu-ray. Video quality: 4/5 Image Entertainment has given Re-Animator fans a pretty decent Blu-ray presentation as far as I'm concerned. The 1080p HD 1:78.1 Widescreen transfer is in extremely good condition considering its age. Is it perfect? The simple answer is no. There is an occasional blip here and there, some minor print speckling and several casual print splotches but nothing that detracts from the overall viewing experience. Re-Animator was an ultra-low budget film and it's probably a miracle that it was released on Blu-ray to begin with. The transfer from Image is about the best I've ever seen this film look. The level of detail presented in the actor's faces, special effects and make-up made me experience Re-Animator like I hadn't seen before. The colors in this Blu-ray release really stand out, more specifically the blood and Herbert's secret re-animating elixir. I don't remember the green formula looking as bright as it's shown here. Audio quality: 3.5/5 The film's soundtrack is presented in DTS-HD Master audio 5.1. The dialogue comes across clearly but there really isn't anything extraordinary about the soundtrack. I think the 5.1 did the job even though it sounded a little flat at times, however the films score from Richard Band sounded better than I remember. Special features: 4.5/5 - Documentary: Re-Animator Resurrectus - Audio Commentary by Director Stuart Gordon - Audio Commentary by Producer Brian Yuzna and actors Bruce Abbott, Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton and Robert Sampson - Interview with Director Stuart Gordon and Producer Brian Yuzna - Interview with writer Dennis Paoli - Interview with Composer Richard Band - Music discussion with Composer Richard Band - Interview with Fangoria Magazine editor Tony Timpone - Deleted and Extended Scenes - Theatrical Trailer - TV Spots The Main Cast: - Jeffrey Combs ' Herbert West - Bruce Abbott ' Dan Cain - Barbara Crampton ' Megan Halsey - Robert Sampson ' Dean Halsey - David Gale ' Dr. Carl Hill - Gerry Black ' Mace - Carolyn-Purdy Gordon ' Dr. Harrod
