just what we needed-but measure carefully
I ordered this for my mother, who now needs assistance with bathing, after I had considered many more-expensive benches (all, but this one, with astronomical shipping fees) & finally crossed fingers and ordered this reasonably priced chair - which arrived very quickly and has so far proven to be an excellent choice.WIDTH OF BENCH:Our shower/tub (original 1959, all-in-one style) tapers down to an 18 1/2 inch width at the tub's base. Like most tubs, the sides curve into the base like a bowl. Of course, with such a tub, it's important to measure not at the opening at the top of the tub as it is several inches wider at top than at bottom; and I did not measure from side to side at the bottom either, because the legs will not be resting on the curve. Note where the tub's base becomes level (that is, where the inside-legs will situate themselves once weight is on the bench) to determine if this bench will work for you. (The 18-1/2" width I mentioned was obtained measuring tub's base: from outermost level point left to outermost level point right. If our tub's width at bottom was an inch or so narrower, I think this bench would be too wide. The chair would rest over the lip of the tub; the person bathing would have to spray water on the bathroom floor in order to fully rinse.)FEATURES:-The chair slides smoothly; securely; easily.-The bench does not slip; slide or budge while Mom is bathing.*The chair is steady & secure. After sliding and "clicking" into place, the chair holds fast and steady.*The suction-cups on the outside-of-tub legs hold well yet are also easy to detach by lifting their tabs.-I find the slide-release-button easy enough to access with Mom in the chair.-Mom likes the handle. She feels secure - especially when I slide the chair for her.-The seat is generous in size. My Mom is about 110 lbs.; we've tested the chair using people up to 170 lbs. It operates smoothly and effortlessly.-All water flows off all surfaces; no worry of mildew which forms quickly in our area.-It's light-weight; enough so that I can easily put it into the tub when Mom's done bathing & store it there till next bath.(Therefore, I haven't needed the folding feature so can't comment on that.)-I find it's easy to clean.I'm all around pleased with the performance of this item so far. We've only used it 3 times though. I am looking forward to seeing how it holds up with use and over time, and hope I'll remember to update this review with that information in future!

Awesome even in a small shower and 3/4 bathroom
The media could not be loaded. I took a leap of faith on this product because so many reviews said it wont work in a small bathroom. The bathroom in my moms room is a 3/4 bath, toilet, sink and shower and is tiny 6×8 if that. However the toilet sits across from the sink and next to the hall entrance door. There is nothing but the door to her bedroom in front of thr shower entrance. (I drew a crude diagram for a visual) This is what makes the difference. I think people who have a toilet or sink in front of the entrance to the tub or shower are the ones with the "not for small" bathroom problem. So please look at the configuration of your room, thay is what will matter the most. This product is excellent. I have enough room for my mom to take one step from the toilet to the chair, or from her wheel chair in the bedroom to the bathroom, which she can do, then I just slide her into the shower. And even though my shower stall is small I have plenty of room to slide her completely in and not get the floor wet. Being that she is only about 5"3 she still has leg room as well. The control you have to push in is under the seat and between the the persons legs but that is no embarrassment issue for us since I bathe her anyway. I have arthritis and it was easy to assemble and easy to slide. She weighs about 145. Pulled out it blocks her bedroom door but i can push it in when we are done and leave access to that door for the remainder of the day. But that room and the bathroom has two entrances so I can leave it slid out if I choose. It is an excellent product and will be a great assistance to us, she is 93 with dementia.

Sturdy and well made. Easy for my mother-in-law to use.

Works well you get in tub
If you can't leave it up because others use tub to soak, it is cumbersome to take out, fold and store near tub.

Works perfectly
This sliding transfer shower bench works absolutely as advertised and makes getting my wife in and out of the shower very safe and easy.

Positioning pin failed on first adjustment
I was so excited to use this product! I am completely wheelchair bound but finally got to switch from sponge baths to amazing showers. I set it up across my tub and backed up my EZ Stand until I perched on the seat, remaining within the harness until I stabilized. All was awesome! Until ....I realized it would be a smoother and even safer transition if I lowered the bench to its lowest position ... easily done, right? It was for three of the legs, but when I depressed the positioning pin on the fourth, the pin snapped back into the tube of the leg and was irretrievable.I can't afford to replace the bench after just four uses, so I put a screw in to position the leg and taped it in place with packing tape. It's the best I can do to continue to enjoy my showers but hugely disappointing from a company I've counted on for so many of my mobility products over the years.
