Study Guide/Solutions Manual for Organic Chemistry

I like Vollhardt's orgo texts, so I bought this as a study aid during my organic chemistry sequence. I used it for most chapters, but I can't say that it made a huge difference. The layout of the book is ok, and the questions are relevant and appropriately challenging for a non-chemistry major orgo course, but I feel I could have gotten an equal grade without it. Worth buying if you're looking for a little supplemental info and a few extra problems, but don't expect it to revolutionize your course experience.

It lists answers in a different style than what it asks for in the textbook. Not a huge deal but it's a little irritating.

Wouldn't have passed O chem without it.

The answers are often jumbled and not clearly labelled for questions with separate parts. For instance, let's say question 28 is part a, b, c, and d. The answer key just gives all the answers in sequence, without identifying where part a ends and where part b begins. This is especially challenging when there are multiple answers to a single part. See the attached image to feel the utter lack of organization I'm referring to. The answers given are also difficult to interpret. At times the answers are strings of CHs without providing the structure or line drawing. Seldom are there explanations for why something is the correct answer. Some symbols are not translated into Kindle, and thus areas that should be double bonds are shown as weird scripts. Try desperately to find another version. This is not the solution manual with any uncertainties about Organic Chemistry. Two stars because the answers seem to be correct, albeit convoluted and difficult to interpret.

You need the solution book along with the text to make compare your answers.

Delivered pretty fast! The study guide quality is much better than described. I couldn't find anything wrong with it besides a stain on the side of the book and some subtle blemishes caused by mild use.Worth every penny!

There should be better explanations for the answers. Otherwise, it is a must have for the textbook. I used it to check my work and maintain a high performance in the course.

I highly recommend getting the physical book. The Kindle version has lots of missing problems, black rectangles covering entire pages, or problems that just don't have answers. It cuts off a lot of content. However, it should be noted that not every problem is like this, and some chapters are better than others. For example, Chapter 7 Solutions was pretty complete, but I couldn't access any of Chapter 8 solution's after question 40 (there are 60 total). Also sometimes changing the page layout can help but that often cuts things off, and sometimes just going past a black rectangle and going back can work. However, it's a pain to do both of these things frequently. I recommend skipping the whole ordeal with the Kindle version and just get the physical book.
