In an infinite  baffle  replacement install in a Lexus sc430 what is recommended to obtain the best sound quality without building a box?

To be honest I never build a sub system without a box.  I tried this in a Lincoln town car designed for a free air 8". The results were okay but lacked control and easily got distorted.  I placed it in a box and got better results.  I am surprised at how well this sub performs for the price.  My advice though is to save your money and invest in a better sub or one rated/designed to go free air or infinite baffle.  By the way use the specs sheet to design the box.

Why does it have to sides to connect to?

Its basically 2 speakers in 1, it's done mainly for more wiring options, you can wire left channel on 1, and right on the other, or wired together in different combinations to raise or lower the ohms to match your amplifier/system, there used in home and mobile audio systems, as long as the onms are a safe match, to low or high can burn up your amplifier or make hour music sound crappy, at the same time if the ohms are setup right, you can draw the maximum wattage from your amp safely although sound quality may not be as good at that level it's a trade off, 2ohm to 4ohm as example, 2 louder 4 quality.

It will run cleanly off of just 50 watts. This is a fairly sensitive sub and doesn't need a bunch of power. 100w of rms power will drive this thing about as far as you want ro take it. I run one in a .6 ft sealed enclosure in my 16 yr old sons 2002 civic, it has a surprising amount of outpit but matches very nicely to a well treated door containing 6.5" midwoofers and tweeters.I also have one in a 2001 suburban in the factory subwoofer enclosure. Again, it is very surprising to see people react to the sound a "cheap" subwoofer produces.

can this run 2ohm in parallel? is there a version of this with dual 4ohm coils? I need 2ohm version of this for Lexus SC430 (aftermarket 2ohm sub amp)

No. Dual 8 ohm coils can only give a 4 ohm load in parallel for a single woofer. It is a fairly high sensitivity rating though, so if you could find specs for your old woofer, if the Dayton was 3db higher...then it would be comparable to your old woofer at 2 ohm.
