I would advise getting the powered hub because you don't know if your USB port will support enough devices without the power supply unit. **Q: How many ports can I have active at one time, without overloading the single port of the computer?** A: actually, while you can theoretically link 127 devices, there is a limitation to the depth or hiearchy you can link hubs (which is 7). In many systems (particularly windows) you may find that the hub controller in the pc can consumer 2 or 3 of those tiers. While that's likely not an issue for most, I've run into a problem when I link a 7 port hub into a KVM switch -- I get an error message stating that the system can not see some devices (because the actual 7 port hub actually contains 2 usb controllers and the kvm switch contains 2 controllers). Suffice it to say -- this is a rare occurrence -- just don't daisy chain a bunch of 4 port hubs together if you run out of ports -- get a hub with more ports **Q: How long is USB3 cable?** A: measured mine at about 1 meter. For 16 3.0 ports, there is no beating this price when you consider the ease of organization and the reliable connection that these provide. My PC is mounted on the wall, and this hub is connected to my PC via a 30 FT USB-B to USB-C connector. The 90W power supply makes it easy to charge peripherals and also doesn't feed off the PC at all, so functionality is all there; the product is extremely stable...I've never had any issues using this. I used to have the 10 port Sabrent hub, and I had the same praises for that...but of course as time goes on, I found new gadgets to play with and needed more slots.
