Not really expandable
The size of the TravelPro Maxlite 5 Compact Carry-on 20” is exactly as stated. (I measured it). Which means that it’s very small for a 5 day trip. This carry on meets the size limits of Hawaiian Airlines.I didn’t check it in, so I can’t comment on it’s durability at being thrown around. All I did was put it in the car, wheel it to the gate, put it in the overhead bin, wheel it to my hotel room, and vice versa. It survived. This is my 1st spinner bag. I had a 2-wheeler which always tipped over, so I wanted 4 wheels to prevent tipping. I expected this not to tip at all, but it did tip over once at the airport. Of course right in front of TSA check point. So, it’s not 100% tip-proof.Pros:-very lightweight-rolls easily on flat surfaces-doesn’t tip most of the time-seems durable enough (strong zippers zipped, powerscope handle went up and down, carry handles seem strong, softside is strong material which didn’t rip, wheels didn’t break, hold straps worked inside)Cons:-I aired it out for a whole week in the garage and backyard. Still has strong odor.-rollers got caught on some cracked/stone walkways-the expandable feature is a joke. It’s only about 1.5”x8.5” expanding. Maybe 1 pair of W sized 12 jeans. The reason is that only a portion of the bottom expands; the top 1/2 of the suitcase tapers to “non-expanding”. This case does not deserve ‘expandable’ in the description.-when you open the suitcase on a rack, the lid does not stay straight open. Because the bag tapers, the lid is at an odd angle and it falls over. I didn’t like this at all. It seems that after a lot of traveling you are putting stress on the lid hinge and it won’t last long. Plus, it kept falling over and doesn’t stay open.-the front pocket is almost useless. I couldn’t fit my paperback book in it.Overall, the case is ok. It’s not perfect, and I think it’s overpriced. I was disappointed in the so-called expandable feature and i don’t like that the lid doesn’t stay straight open. But it should serve it’s purpose and hopefully it lasts for a long time.

Does a good job till expanded
Bought this for a two week trip the UK and Norway. Out of the gate, it’s light, small enough for European carry on standards. I packed it very carefully using a couple compression cubes and filled in the nooks and crannies with my other stuff. For the first 4 days, one hotel, everything was peachy, then the dreaded hotel shift took place and the best I could do now with a few dirty things that had to travel, I had to use the expanding feature. That’s where they’re losing a star. Expanded, this thing is tippy. Unlike a clamshell case the wheel width is fixed on this. You go front heavy towards the pocket side and it flops over pretty easily. With a clamshell, two wheels go with each expanded side to they remain stable throughout the journey. Is it their fault or mine, maybe both? I knew there would be limitations to what I could carry. I just didn’t want to check luggage going overseas. I’ll keep this for shorter trips to local places but I’ll go back to searching for the perfect piece of luggage for the next trip across the pond.

Great Piece of Luggage!
Purchased this product to be carry-on luggage for an international flight to Germany. Unfortunately, I had to check the bag in at Philadelphia Airport because it did not fall within the required dimensions for carry-on luggage on Lufthansa (without the extender being used). It was well below the weight limit. In fact, this bag was the lightest piece of luggage that we brought on the trip. We wound up adding items (souvenirs) to it in Germany where the zipper extender came in very handy. The bag moved easily through airports and even appeared sturdy on the cobblestone streets of Cologne. The larger front pocket has a nice amount of space for extra stuff. The only downside is that the smaller front pocket can't be utilized when the bag is fully packed.I am satisfied with my purchase and hope to use this piece of luggage on many future trips!

So far great bag
So so far this bag has gone on 3 trips via airlines and has held up even with the typical abuse.First off very light weight so gives you more weight for you things. With that reduction however doesn’t seem like it lost its durability (so far)Wheels and handle work well and it slides over the ground smoothly. So no issues there. For me plenty of room for packing, I took it on a 10 day trip and had enough to get through the entire trip.If you can get this bag in sale even better, but so far loving it and time will only tell if it holds up like I am hoping it does!

Roomy, lightweight bags with small wheels
This is a very large piece of luggage that when fully packed for a month long vacation exceeded the 50 lb weight limit on international flights. As we were a couple travelling with two of these large suitcases, we were able to shift some items into the second piece of luggage. I am concerned that the wheels are very small and although they did not break, I was concerned that they would do so and that they would not be durable in the long run for many trips. When getting off the ship, we encountered a walk way with space between each plank, and the wheels would get stuck between the slats. A big concern is that they would break but they did not break. I would feel better with a piece of luggage that size with eight sturdy wheels and not four of them. This is a great luggage brand but I am skeptical that these wheels are going to last. A broken wheel on a piece of luggage weighing 50 lbs would be a minor disaster for seniors who would not be able to lift them!

Bien. No excelente

Light weight and built well.
Grear carry on. Only issue is that it tips forward very easily due to the design of the bag.

Overall great design
However: Tends to tip over, so balance heavier stuff on bottom inner side of luggage. So pleased with it, this is my second purchase

Super recomendada
