Ethique Curl-Defining Solid Conditioner Bar with Shea Butter, 2.12 oz

After about 3 washes, I started to notice the difference. My curls feel softer, shinier, hydrate,d and ultimately more defined. I haven't changed my styling routine, but just used this sh + co duo more consistently and have loved the results. AND to add, there is still about half the bar left, this is way more value for my money, knowing it will last twice as long as a traditional bottle of conditioner lasts me.

I've been using this for over a year now and I still really love it. I initially bought it to try to be eco friendly but I continued to buy it because it smells great, detangles well, doesn't leave a weird residue or icky feeling on my hair, and hasn't affected my curls in any negative way. I use this on my 3 year old daughter too. We both have really thick loose curls.

If this was a review purely for the quality of the product, I'd give it an easy 5 starts. However, in terms of value and its "ergonomic shape", I have to knock down a couple of stars. The good: This product is moisturizing and has outstanding slip for a bar. I have thick low porosity 3A hair that sits a couple of inches below my shoulders. I've found the best way to apply this product is to hold it in one hand while doing the praying hands method to coat the strands. As long as your hair is wet and the bar is wet, you don't have to press down hard as that will use more product and cause pieces to break off. I like the fragrance and can say it leaves my hair soft and feeling lightweight at the end. I don't wash it out completely and instead leave some in as a leave-in conditioner. The not so good: I've used this product for 3 weeks (6 washes). In that time, the size of the bar has decreased by 43%, nearly half! Based on my estimates this will last 6 weeks (rounding down since it's hard to use the last remnants of a bar). I'm pretty sure that falls quite short of their claim that 1 bar = 5 bottles. That might be true for someone with extremely short hair but certainly not for many curly girls with shoulder length hair or longer. Note to Ethique - you make excellent quality products. Shampoo is for the scalp - conditioner is for the length of the hair; people with longer hair need to use more conditioner. Curly girls use a lot of conditioner to coat their strands as it doesn't lather like shampoo: this bar should be larger in size (as it originally was before the shape redesign). Also, the shape does not do any favors for the customer in terms of application. It might look cute in pictures but it's not effective in making application any easier.

Works lovely on my long wavy hair. Feels so soft and shiny. Last me for several months, great product!

Purchase for an over seas trip to reduce liquids. Paired with the shampoo works well as a set. I found that the solid shampoo worked so well I only needed to use the solid conditioner every other wash. Leaves my curly hair so soft with loopy spiral curls.

This is a disaster. The instructions say to rub it on your hair and ends. It doesn't apply to hair that way. The only way I could get it to apply is by scraping it off, but then the chunks do not dissolve. They were all over my shower, me, and even my hairbrush! This was a definite fail.

I've tried a lot of conditioner bars intended for curly girls and this is the best I've come across. It's easy to work into the hair and keeps it very soft. This worked out great for international travel and various camping trips. Totally worth it!
