DuraMate Automatic Waterer With Metal Cover

I have bought two of these. I have one in my dog run and also one in the chicken coop. Very durable and reliable.

I wanted to use this not with a pressurized water system, but with a 25 gallon rainbarrel with spigot [I do not have pressurized water at the location I want to use it with; the rainbarrel won't use rain, but rather household water that I bring to it]. Anyway, it worked fine without pressurized water, just gravity-fed water! It doesn't fill as quickly with gravity-fed water, but the float valve works fine. Note that this waterer is large -- big enough for a larger dog or several dogs, or livestock. Plastic quality is very high, very strong. There is some assembly required and some metal screws that go into the plastic, but use an electric screwdriver and it will go together in minutes.

Perfect, works great except I had to change out one hose. The connector kept leaking

After following the directions I hooked the WATERER to water supply and the valve didn't shut off when the bucket was full, not even close. I was fixing to pack it up for return when upon inspection noticed the valve assembly (installed at factory) was installed upside down as there was no way the float would shut off the flow of water in the current position. After removing the entire assembly and flipping the valve assembly 180 degrees and re-installing everything it now seems to be working fine, time will tell. HOWEVER, it is supposed to come with an extra VALVE SEAL WHICH IT DID NOT. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE AMAZON TO SEND THE EXTRA VALVE SEAL TO ME. Update: I have communicated with the supplier of this product and gave them the specific part number that wasn't included with the original order and Have Not Heard Anything From Them Since.

Best waterer for horses in my pastures, I've tried others but these are the sturdiest and easy to install. yes they are a bit more costly, but as they say, you get what you pay for

I've used several of these waterers over the years. Works great for my horses/cattle and easier to keep clean/fresh than a large water trough, plus you don't have to worry the ground being level. For those complaining about it leaking, use a 90 degree hose adapter instead of screwing the hose directly into the waterer. Works so well I think they should include one. It really is essential.

I have bought 3 of them in the past few years. They work great. Over time the float can get stuck and you'll have to clean it but that's to be expected

Works well, we had to reinforce the back with a 2x6 as the brackets were a little flimsy but otherwise horses love it and they are fully transitioned to using this as their water source
