The Queen Is Dead

Awesome box set. A great addition for Smiths fans.

Per i 31 anni di The Queen Is Dead gli Smiths si sono dati da fare, hanno fatto uscire un 12" maxi singolo con 4 canzoni, un cofanetto da 5 Lp con demo e versioni live e questo bellissimo 45 giri picture disc. Averlo trovato su Amazon è stato veramente una sorpresa perché sembra che fosse solo possibile acquistarlo nei negozi brick-&-mortar. Disco per veri fan degli Smiths!

Carton reçu vide. Article, commandé de nouveau sans problème cette fois. Incompréhensible.

商品の到着が非常に遅く、到着予定日を遥かに過ぎてから届きました。商品は(7”インチのピクチャー盤)針跳びこそ、かろうじてしないものの、反りが激しく再生時プレーヤーのアームが激しく上下に動きます。とてもとても残念でした。

The eighties is all to often portrayed as mullet hair cuts and Duran Duran. This is true but there was also the indie or “alternative” music that could not have been more different to the 80s stereotype we have in popular culture. The Smiths represent the absolute pinnacle of indie music, never to be bettered only matched. The two elements of the poetry of Morrissey and Johnny Marr’s tunes are absolute perfection for this genre of music. For me The Queen is Dead contains no bad tracks at all with some of the most poetic and insightful songs ever written about daily life, every bit the equal of the Beatles (ie big mouth strikes again, cemetery gates, frankly mr shankly). In summary tuneful music combined with poetic lyrics combine to make the perfect album. As for worrying about what version to get in this case I do not think it matters unless you own a hifi say over £6k or are a fanatic then you probably would care about the format. For me the quality of the music is so good it transcends the device you use to play it on. In these hard times a cheap second hand cd is fine and excellent value for money bearing in mind I originally listened to it on a cheap cassette copied from vinyl.
