Truly amazing for the price
This is my first foray into the world of DC variable water pumps, I have a massive collection of ac pumps and never considered anything else before a few months ago. You will not find a better, well thought out pump on Amazon in this price category. I know this because I initially bought a different model that was $10 less, and none of the fittings were even remotely compatible with any type of widely available metric or imperial tubing or pipe in the US. This DCP 3500 has a hard pipe connection that is an excellent fit with 3/4" PVC, which is what I'll be plumbing with, and a nice tight 3/4 barb which I'm using for testing purposes. No rigging anything together, it all works out of the box. Noise was not a contributing factor in my purchase, but it is the quietest pump I've ever owned. Even without suction cups, just sitting in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, it's completely silent. The power is incredible for such a small pump, an ac pump with this amount of flow would be 1.5x the size and 3-4x the wattage. Speaking of wattage, I live off grid, and water pumps really start to add up when you're using several, I'm so impressed with this pump I've already ordered another 3500 as a backup, and a 2500 for moving the fluidized bed in my sump/for water changes. The variable flow is such a cool feature (I realize this is inherent to DC pumps in general), being able to match the 4 overflows that are feeding this without a ball valve and a guess is pretty awesome, and it pumps great even at the lowest setting, at least in initial testing. The value is incredible. Compared to the other pump I initially purchased, everything just works with this one. Don't settle for weird fitting sizes that are going to require major modifications to make work, I can't trust that in a permanent installation and you shouldn't either. Looking around online, replacement controllers are available, that isn't going to happen with any of the other pumps in this price range. I can't speak to longevity, but based on my reading these are either great or a dud, and it should be known soon enough, I'll update my review if I have any issues. The only cons I see are that the barbed adapters aren't the best quality I've run across, but far from the worst, and because they're well fitting with standard 3/4 vinyl and silicone tubing they don't need to be wildly torqued down with a hose clamp and I don't foresee any issues. The instructions are in the second half of the manual, and convey enough to understand how everything works if you are a competent English reader, but they're also very sparse on extra information you might want, like o-ring size, etc. I highly recommend this pump, even if it only lasted a year I would consider it an excellent value at this price point, but hopefully I'll get much more life than that.

Excellent Pumps
These Jebao pumps are great. I've owned a couple over the past 8 years or so and they've been pretty much flawless despite my attempts to break them. I've literally ran them dry, ran them under vacuum with inlet and outlet sealed, and with all types of debris in the pump. I had one on a system on a metal rack that I needed to rework. I had to cut some of the metal bars to run pipe through. I didnt notice that a 2 inch piece of metal bar fell into the pump. The pump ran for a while and then locked up. I didnt notice until the following morning. Disassembled, removed the metal, and put it back together. Good as new. I can't say if its the pumps that are robust or the controller is smart and prevents damage, but these are very reliable. Its also damn near silent even at the full 40w on the 5000. Literally cannot hear it from a few feet away. Very little heat is produced. Excellent pumps.

Up to snuff with the $200+ pumps
Some of the components feel a little flimsy and roughly manufactured. However everything fits together well. It is very quiet. And the variatable speeds save electricity. The controller is simple enough to use. It has been in use for almost a year and is working very well. I was glad I purchased it and it has served me well. No leaks at all. Comes with glue unions which I used my regular PVC glue and primer on. Be careful of sizing this pump to your tank. The GPH rating is generous and does not factor in feet of head (height the pump has to send the water) the flow rates go down the higher it goes. All this to say this was perfect for my 100 gallon tank + 40 gallon sump. Update: 2 years running. Had a slight leak so I took it apart for a repair. The main body O-Ring failed and was leaking. Not the worst after two years but O-Rings should last a bit longer. I happen to be a commercial water valve technician so I had a replacement on hand. Upon complete take down and clean of all motor components it wasn’t over all in like new condition. After replacing the o-rings it worked like the day I first plugged it in. If I were you I would highly recommend contacting the seller who is very friendly and responsive and ask to buy a spare o-ring kit. And get some o-ring lube. In case you have the same issue. I personally will be buying a second pump to have on hand. Return pumps die or leak all the time it is what they do. If you have a spare that is the same one you can drop in the new one and get parts for the old one. Fish can’t wait for 2-day shipping. I still give this a 5-star. You can buy 5 of these for the price of the “name brand” dc pumps. If your buying this for the first time buy one more than you need. You will always be prepared for an emergency. I’ve seen other reviews about some mfg issues. They don’t have great quality control but they make up for it in customer support. And for the guy who put thread tape on an o-ring union 🤦🏼♂️. C’mon man! The o-ring in the union does the sealing not the threads. Don’t leave one star reviews because you don’t know basic plumbing. Guys o-rings fail. Have spares! And check your equipment often.

Waaay Too Quiet!
I purchased another pump from Amazon about five years ago. It was the best pump I ever purchased. It let me forget that there was a pump running all the time. Unfortunately, be it due to our very hard (actual EPA rating) water or time, it started working sporadically, costing me two of my mature (6+-inch) tropicals. I forgot what the other was, but in my experience shark cats are tolerant of everything except stagnant or insufficiently moving water. I guess their similarity to sharks goes beyond their appearance. I returned to Amazon for the replacement, knowing that I could find a far better variety than any local supplier. I was not disappointed. This pump is super quiet. I attribute this to it being a DC rather than AC motor. I can vary the flow. This is important, because I use a homemade sump system, and this allows me to choose whether to push or pull the flow. What I mean is that I can make it return to the main tank a little faster than gravity pulls it out, and therefore have slightly more water flowing through the system overall than a fixed-rate system. Mine is a freshwater sump system. The main tank is a 72-gallon pre-drilled bow. The sump is a 15-gallon tank with a ten-gallon tank that serves as the physical and biological filtration section. This leaves a 5-gallon chemical filtration refugium space where the pump sits and returns the water back to the main tank return port that is about four feet above, flowing through about five feet of 1-inch tubing. I am not nearly as much of a techie as this may make me seem, so do not ask me about the physics. I am a tinkerer and experimenter who is never satisfied with the status quo or conventional solutions. On my list of projects is to build a(nother) stand which fits better aesthetically with my Bride's excellent décor. The way this pump functions makes me all the more eager to get it done.

Very Quiet, hope it lasts
I receive nothing for my reviews, my reviews are my 100% honest and unbiased opinion. Right out of the box it leaked which is why I take off one star. It leaked around the outside pump housing. The O-ring had a nick in it. The outer pump housing O-ring is 80mm OD 74mm ID 3mm Width, available right here on Amazon. Now I have 19 spares. LOL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VFK535G?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2 It comes with three different size PVC pipe slip connectors that fit on the input and output ports with screw on collars. Two small, two medium and two large. I used the smallest connectors whose ID is perfect for the OD of standard 3/4 schedule 40 PVC pipe. The OD of these connectors is 33.3mm. I used standard Oatey clear PVC pipe cement. The medium connectors are 33mm ID by 40.7mm OD. The large connectors are 41.8mm ID by 47.5mm OD. It comes with ONE each of 3 different size barb connectors 20.7mm, 25.5mm, 31.9mm OD repectively. It comes with a "box" attachment for the input to be used for submerged applications. So apparently the barb connectors are only to be used in the submerged configuration since there is only one of each. Since there was only one barb connector for my 3/4 silicone line and I was using this in the inline configuration, not submerged, I had to fabricate my own 3/4" barbs by using the smallest slip connectors, short pieces of 3/4" PVC and two 3/4" PVC slip barbs. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I4CUVC?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5&th=1 It really should come with two barb connectors of each size instead of one of each size. Note if you have to, you can make your own connectors, it involves 1/8" polycarbonate, two hole saws, SS backing nuts, male threaded to whatever you want ie barb and cover the SS backing nut with original JB weld. I know, because I had to do this with the 55W UV sterilizer I purchased. My application for this pump is fresh water aquarium (110 gallon). Originally I had the Danner 950 but the 60hz hum from the induction motor conducted through the water it pumped, using very soft 3/4" silicone hose didn't snub out the hum. So I decided to give this Jebao a try and they are very very quiet. I can't hear it run. As long as it lasts, I will be happy. I will update this review if it fails. Note: all I did was press the up arrow button until it stopped increasing at 100 and the display says 47-48W. I have not read the paper sheet manual yet but I presume that means 100% is 48W. I did notice the power on the display fluctuated when I activated inline valves down to 40W with cavitation noise. When it cavitates, it sounds like someone threw a handfull of hickory nuts in the case (normal). When I open the valve and the air passes out it gets very very quiet again. When I had the pump housing off (hand twist housing relative to motor, CCW if I remember correctly), I noticed the ceramic shaft and press fit slightly bluish transparent plastic impeller. I scanned the manual in and have attached it as pictures if you want to read it. I asked Rufus if this was a brushless motor pump and it said yes. The motor housing is quite cool compared to the Danner. I cannot measure flow rate, but according to their supplied charts this should be close to the Danner 950. As my water return into the aquarium is under the water line and suppressed, I cant even hazard a guess at flow rate. I take a 3/4" PVC pipe, slit it on a table saw lengthwise, end cap on one end, 90 on other end and slide green plastic scrungy pads in the slit. I like anabantidae bubble nesters and need to keep the water surface calm. From undergravel filter single 3/4" tube up out of aquarium, down to 4.5" x 10" whole house clear housing cannister filter with 100micron pleated paper filter to the pump, up to 55W UV sterilizer and back into tank. From bottom point of plumbing to top most is approximately 36". In other words, 3 feet, 1 yard or approximately 1 meter of "pump lift head". I hope this helps someone. Edit 25 June 2026: I had my valves set wrong on my tank when I opened the fill line valve from my house plumbing and it blew the pump out of the housing breaking one of four locking tabs. We are on personal well water here and I have the pressure set 45-60psi. I see no way of reparing the tab but I put it back together and it pumps the aquarium just fine with no leaking so three tabs are enough. I have ordered another pump as a backup just in case. I will look at the backup pump to see if there is a way I can make clamp clips for the four corners. To get air out of the system, take the power all the way down, let it clear without cavitation rattling noise then gradually take the power up to full a little at a time. Good pump that took the abuse of a blast of 60psi from house plumbing, albeit with slight damage but still pumping good and strong. HTH

Great affordable pump
First time water feature builder, and I saw good reports on this pump and it behaving as well as more expensive pumps with fewer features. It hooked up easily and pushed water through my 2" tubing quickly and silently. Honestly, I can't tell that it's running except for all the water it spits out. The controller is easy to operate, but it lacks an off switch. You can pause it for 10 min, but not shut it off completely without unplugging it. The only "issues" I found were connecting the tubing to the pump was a bit more difficult due to the small outlet size. I could have used 1.5" tubing, but would have seen flow reduced as a result. Also, you can only adjust flow down to 30% of max, but this can be worked around by controlling flow with a ball valve. I could have bought a smaller size for my 18" x 25' x 6" deep waterfall/stream. The lowest speed flows a great amount of water through the stream with a waterfall at the head and 3 more cascades before getting to the water reservoir. Lastly, my only other complaint is the length of the power cable between the controller and the pump. I was able to find extensions for it, but there weren't many choices. I'm not sorry I bought it and it has been running flawlessly for 2 weeks now.

Stopped Working
Purchased this pump for a saltwater mixing station. I chose this one because it seemed to be very positively reviewed and at a low price. Worked fine out of the box. Shortly after installation I noticed that the controller stopped working entirely. Several months in it stopped working entirely. I have seen many other posts claiming the same thing. I reached out to the manufacturer via their contact information on the product box and have not received a response. I will be out a lot of money on this as the system was designed with the pump dimensions in mind and will have to reconfigure the entire thing.

Pretty quiet, easy to adjust flow rate
Running for about a week. This pump is powerful and I am running it with my 180 gallon pumping up 6 feet of vertical head. Pretty quiet, easy to adjust flow rate, no more frustration trying to turn the valve bit by bit... Fast shipping!
