When I ordered this, I expected some cheap, thin, suede piece that would do what I needed it to and little else. What I got was some of the thickest, plushest suede leather I've seen. A beautifully cut, straight measured piece, with a completely unmarred surface to work with. Simply put; this is one gorgeous piece of leather. Hell, I almost felt bad having to cut it down for my projects! In fact, it's such good quality that I took extra special care when cutting it, not to leave any uneven, jagged edges on the remnants! Grade A. I can't say more than that.

this is a FANTASTIC square of leather!! it's not too thin, or floppy... not excessively thick either - the color is beautiful, no 'natural' nip or scratch marks. the backside is just as great- actually has a nice feel to it. I love they indicated the thickness as 1.8mm - it allowed me to easily know what I was getting vs weight in ounces; which is common, but for those who aren't aware ounces alone is not as helpful. (CONSISTENT 1.8MM across the 12"x12" pc) NO storage odor issues. the seller for this: Hide and Drink - is providing a quality product!! thanks to the group for doing so - I will be purchasing more!! maybe additional color variations at this 1.8mm thickness will be available at some point?? GREAT QUALITY!!

High quality leather, but the piece I received was slightly over 2mm thick. Depending on your project, that might not be a big deal. In my case, it made a difference (in a negative way) because it won't fold as "fine" as it should.

These squares of leather are so nice, soft to the touch, not too thick or stiff for my projects. I have bought many items from “hide and drink”, the quality is amazing. Great for gifts or for yourself. I purchased something for everyone in my family, and they all loved everything. The quality for the price is amazing, you will not be disappointed. The packaging is adorable with the little owls and the stamping of the brand is a really nice touch. The leather smells amazing as well

I normally buy my leather in full sides, but I currently have none in stock and wanted to try a combination of leathers for a project I decided to make. When I opened up the packaging I was very impressed with the quality and finish on this 12" x 12" square. The leather is supple and has just enough flex to do what I need it to do. I HIGHLY recommend it and I will not hesitate to purchase it again. Sadly, at the time of writing this review, the squares are unavailable. Hopefully they will be back in stock sometime in the future. And for me, I would prefer sooner rather than later!

I will admit that this is the first time that I have bought leather for crafting, so while I am not an expert I was impressed with the overall quality. The leather was thick with a dark and consistent color just as it was pictures with a nice firm but still smooth feel to it. I was very satisfied with the quality and my project turned out very well and quite honestly looks like I likely paid $50-$100 for it when it was done with around $6 worth of leather. The next time I want something out of leather I am coming back for more right here.

I ordered two squares, and I'm glad I ordered multiple. One sheet is flawless, but the second has several defects, such as severely thinned out and cut/creased areas which are unfortunately in the middle which limit the ability to use large pieces cut from this square. The seller touts the quality of the product, which is evident in only one of the two items I received.

I wanted a leather blotter to use with my Copperplate calligraphy. Most that I found cost $50.00 to $90.00 (some included embossing your name, but I did not need that). I found this Hide & Drink on Amazon for under $13.00. The size works great for a blotter (mine is 12x12 inches). I love the color and it is very soft and supple; not too thin or thick (1.8mm). It is perfect for my calligraphy work. The company also sent me an email to ensure I was happy with the purchase. I definitely am.
