I'm not sure how, but If exposed to the elements like calipers, too much can encourage rusting.Just be sure to apply lightly, don't over do it and you should be fine.

I’ve applied this lubricant to every single part of the brakes that make metal-to-metal contact, including the rotor surface to the wheel hub, hardware, back of the pads, and even the sliding pins. It goes on smoothly and seems to work well in reducing friction and noise. I plan on using it on my RAV4 soon, and so far, it looks like a solid choice for keeping everything running smoothly
