The great "missing" Disco Album from Elton John
I was definitely in the minority when I loved this album upon its release. The general consensus was that by the time Elton John released this disco album, the Disco Era was (almost) over. I didn't care then, and still don't care now. This music is fun, and sounds even better than I remembered it. Since I recently joined the "Digital Era" and started purchasing music for download, I had been searching for this title on that "other" digital music service, to no avail. I am so glad I found this on Amazon, and I purchased immediately. A lot of fun, with a good beat, and easy to dance to....I'll give it a 95!!!

Fun album
This was Elton John's disco album that Bernie Taupin was not a part of. With the exception of Elton's cover of Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode, which even Elton in an interview said he hated, some of the original material is actually a lot of fun. It's a long way from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, but if you're a big Elton fan like I am, you'll get a kick out of it.

Bad Rep
I used to hate this record and never listened to since it came out in 1979. Now listening with my ears all these years later, it really does not deserve the bad rep. Of course, I am judging it now compared to today's pop music (Taylor "not so" Swift; Nicki Manure) and that may be influencing my ears!

Elton John and Disco Do Not Mix!
I'm in the process of collecting every Elton John album released, and I just received "Victim Of Love" yesterday. This album goes way beyond bad and must certainly rank as Elton's worst release ever. What the hell was he thinking? Elton is a self-confessed disco fan, but just because you like something doesn't mean you're any good at creating it! From the opener, an eight-minute disco version of "Johnny B. Goode" to the closing title track, this album smacks of desperation. Elton wrote none of the songs, and his band is nowhere in sight. In fact, the instrumental tracks were created and Elton simply overdubbed his vocals at a later date. On all eight tracks the disco beat numbs the mind and dulls the senses. It just goes on and on and on. The lyrics are trite and devoid of any emotion. It's hard to believe this is the same man who, just four years earlier, recorded "Someone Saved My Life Tonight."But as bad as this album is, somehow the title song became a minor hit for Elton, peaking at number 33. That alone makes me believe in miracles! Upon it's release this album should have gone straight to the discount bins, where it would be right at home with the cut-outs and other lousy music that nobody liked.Elton John is a living legend and a musical institution, but here our hero takes a fall. Your time would be better spent listening to "Funkytown!"

Not Typical Elton or Disco
If you are a passionately devoted Elton John fan, fascinated with every aspect of his career and also happen to be a disco junkie who needs a wide variety of dance music that goes off the beaten path in case the urge to pull out your disco ball and throw a party should overtake you at any given moment, then this album is an absolute must. If any part of the previous sentence doesn’t fit you to a tee, however, I can assure you, this would be the Elton John album to miss, for this is not the best of either Elton or disco.I was never all that big on disco music, but while I always considered myself an Elton John fan, I was obviously not his biggest fan, as I refused to buy this album when it first came out. I didn’t mind so much when he changed his band; I didn’t even mind when he wrote songs with lyricists other than Bernie Taupin - but Elton and disco? Well, I have my limits.Yet when I found the vinyl at a flea market for about a dollar, curiosity got the better of me. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. In fact, it was tolerable and I actually liked the song Victim of Love, for which I would give the album a one star rating. Not a typical disco album, this started with Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” with a disco flavor and ended with the title track, by far the best song on the record. The other five songs in-between would need more than a disco ball to make them shine. However, if you have to have disco, they would pass – though barely. This is not a typical Elton John album either, as he didn’t write any of the songs, limiting his contribution to vocals. However, for a rock star of his magnitude, I give him credit for even making the effort to throw himself into a genre he must have known would subject himself to criticism. While the effort was barely worthwhile, he pulled it off like no one else in his position could. For that I had to give it an extra star.

I just received my order yesterday to my shock. I received a Vinyl album rather than a CD. As I do not have any more player unit, it is just a waste.Probably I was excited and too quick to click the order button. I was looking for a CD album in many record store and was unable to find.
