great step
Great step with high quality, for a great price. Be sure to look at your old one, customers was welded on, took a torch and a lot of work (not burning trailer). That is not the steps fault. I been doing RV work for 55 yrs, that install is not for the faint of heart. Once installed, it was super stable. Even added the crank down support, but wasn't needed. Customer loved the ease of it rolling out and in. The old style had slots to slide on, and jammed up, DO NOT buy that style.

Perfect fit
The description isn't correct. these steps are 27 1/4 at the top of the step frame. they were a perfect fit for our Cougar ultrlight travel trailer. 3 steps bowed. However, we removed the 4 bolts holding the old steps and supported the steps with 2 concrete blocks. we then folded the steps up and pulled the assembly straight toward us and out. that part was easy. it first appeared that the new steps were slightly wider than the frame they needed to bolt to. after some minutes of frustration we realized the brackets on the trailer angled inward at the bottom and we needed to install the new steps just like we removed the old. so we raised the steps to the height they would bolt in place at and forced them between the mounting brackets. then we got a block of wood and rubber mallet and tapped on each side of the steps frame until the mounting holes began to line up. at this point i used a scratch awl (screwdriver would work as well) and put it through the first hole to pry the steps holes until it lined up. got the first bolt back on, loosely. went to each mounting hole in turn until all 4 bolts were started. Tightened everything down. be sure the sqare base of the bolts seats tightly or you bolts could shear off over time. i had to push up just a but to wiggle 2 of the bolts fully into place. They work great, feel sturdy, and my step tread covers from the old set fit perfectly. we ordered the Lippert step support to attach under the lowest step to hopefully prevent the hinge bracket from breaking, which was the problem in the original steps (trailer was purchased used and one step hinge was already damaged). that part is due to arrive in a day or two. This is definitely a 2 person job, and requires one person to get under the steps/trailer to remove, line up new steps, and tighten the bolts. Removal and installation took about 1 to 1-1/4 hrs total.

Much better than the expensive stairs
Excellent value and function! Our previous stairs for the 5th wheel were the hefty set that tucked inside when not in use and since they had two feet, they were always at the wrong height, on or off the road. So we got these--the installation was super easy, there was a space specifically for these types of stairs which tuck up underneath the outside of the RV. I can open and shut these with one hand (whimpy lady, here). There's no feet underneath the stair so you don't have to worry about how height a curb is when parking by the road or how high the dirt might be. So much easier!

Non-standard installation on 36-year old trailer
These were not designed to just bolt up to a 30' 1987 5th wheel camper, but I'm an engineer. I don't worry about little things like that. The old, rusty steps on this camper when I bought it left me little choice. They were so bad my wife couldn't extend or retract them, but that was okay because she didn't trust the way they moved around when she stepped on them anyway. I ground away the old ones and did a rough alignment with the new to see how much it would take to make them feel right at home. I made new brackets and widened the support base a couple of inches, painted, welded, painted, aligned, bolted, etc., etc., etc. until I thought they looked acceptable. My wife loves them! She can operate them with one foot and says they are plenty sturdy. Good product! Even though I had to modify the trailer to fit them, I didn't do anything to the steps themselves. They work at least as well as I had hoped when I bought them. I gave these 5 stars for "easy to install" because it wasn't their fault I had to customize the installation. The way these steps are built, it actually helped make it pretty easy!

Was not fabricated correctly
Unit Not fabricated correctly!! Unit bolts in ok! Top step is level, second step is level but bottom step is 3/8 of an inch out of level. Bottom Step angles up towards the sky. The red level in the picture is held level manually but there is a 3/8 gap to the right hand (back side of step) that is a bit hard to see. Not funny. Don't recommend purchasing. The second issue is the " general sloppiness". The unit has enough play, side to side, compared to the old worn out unit, that it hits the side panel of the camper wall skirt. No impressed. Thanks 5-31-24

Not level steps
The top step is level. The middle step is angled slightly up, and the bottom step is angled way up. I am going to have to grind some metal off to make them sit more flat. Other than that they seem to be very sturdy. They fit perfectly into the old step spot.
