## Description

Traditional solar panels are rigid and often enclosed in tempered glass. The Renogy 50W Flexible Solar Panel is anything but traditional. Perfect for marine use or placement on top of a van or vehicle, the Renogy 50W Lightweight Solar Panel is thin and capable of flexing up to 248 degrees. At 2.87 pounds, this flexible solar panel weighs only a quarter of its traditional 50W counterpart. Highly flexible, this lightweight panel can easily be installed on curved surfaces. This panel can also be used for other various applications, including providing power on a boat or teardrop trailer.Mounting Recommendation: Modules must be mounted using silicone structural adhesive on the backside of the panel, grommets are only to be used for non-mobile applications. For detailed installation methods, please consult a local contractor for guidance.

Review: So far, great product. - This was my first solar panel purchase so I wasn't sure what to expect. First impression was the panel is a little stiffer than expected. That was a good thing in my case since it's mounted on the cabin top of my boat where being a little stiff keeps it from flapping in the wind. After hooking it all up, controller, cables, battery, it works like a champ. Keeps my 12 volt lead acid deep cycle fully charged. I haven't had a chance yet to test it for several days on the water but I think it will do the job for replenishing the battery for the minor loads, cell phone, handheld radio, I'll need it for.
Review: Looking Great after a year under Florida Sun - I bought the Renogy panels on Aug 3 2019 for my Sailboat. After a full year under Florida sun I decided to write a review. The panels (one 160 watts and two 50 Watts) still looking great, and putting same amps as when I first installed them. Back then I was trying to figure out how to mount them on top of the bimini and found a reviewer that used snaps, so I decided to give them a try. So far a year later, the panels still there and working great. I'll recommend them to anyone looking for solar panels for a boat. They are heavier than and better quality than some other flexible panels I've seen on boats.

## Features

- Extremely Flexible - This flexible solar panel is capable of meeting a wide range of applications where standard panels can be inconvenient to mount, such as on the curved roof of an airstream
- Ultra Lightweight - Thanks to advanced polymer materials, renogy flexible solar panel weighs 70% less than conventional solar panels, making transportation and installation a breeze
- Super Thin Lamination - Hardly noticeable, the 50 watt solar panel laid flat is only a tenth of an inch tall. Approximately 95% thinner than its rigid counterpart, renogy 50w flexible solar panel is ideal for a stealthy solar setup
- Highly Durable - Rigorously tested, the 50w solar panels are designed to withstand extreme wind of up to 2400 PA and snow loads of up to 5400 Pa
- Potential Uses - The renogy 50 watt flexible solar panel can be primarily used on off-grid applications that include marine, rooftop, RV, boats and any curvy surfaces

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many watts output are you guys getting with this Renogy 50 watt flexible solar panel?**
A: In good conditions You may get 2 1/2 amps

**Q: I have to run this 12' to get to my battery on a kayak. Can the cables be changed out or spliced into to make the run /should I increase wire size**
A: You can get snap-together cables from the Home Depot website, or the Renogy company directly- a variety of lengths are available. It's always better to go with a decent size wire gauge, but if a nominal size is the only one available, it'll still work since you're not running a high amp load anyway.

**Q: To connect these solar panels in parallel will i need y connector or t connectors? Also to connect panel to panel will i need some kind of extension?**
A: For parallel, you are in general just looking at using y connectors. There are 2:1, 3:1, etc. available. With parallel, just keep an eye on amps since that will go up with each additional panel connected. to connect panel to panel (I'm taking that to mean a serial connection), you don't need anything since you would just connect the positive of one panel to the negative of the other and when you are done connecting you panels you have one positive and one negative free and those are what you connect to the controller. With this serial arrangement you just need to keep an eye on voltage relative to your controller.

**Q: Solar panel is showing voltage but zero amps on the controller. battery now depleted. is this panel bad?**
A: According to the manufacture (Renogy) it should put out a maximum of 18.5 Volts at output operation current of 2.71 amps. Your battery may be bad. I would replaced the battery first and remember to connect the battery first before connecting the solar panel. If you still don't show any current then you could have a bad charger controller. The solar panel can be check by placing an amp meter in series with a load. Amps = the Voltage divide by the Resistance. According to the manufacture the maximum short circuit is about 2.92 Amps. Note this is in Bright Sun Light.
