It's not designed to work on walls, just with glass on horizontal surfaces. **Q: I want to use this in my brass candle stick holders to my smaller bottom candles in place. I like the fact it's clear. Will this work?** A: I think it would work fine, as long as there are no holes underneath of the place you apply it at. The Museum Gel will always look for the lowest spot to run to before it stops. **Q: can these be used on a wood furniture without damaging or stripping patina?** A: I have had no trouble with it stripping paint, varnish, or ink. It seems to be an incompletely cured silicone rubber that holds things in place with a natural stickiness instead of any solvent bonds. I have removed it from painted, varnished, and inked surfaces without damage or residue. Test on a small, out-of-sight area on your own furniture before you go hog wild. **Q: Will it work on plastic, and can you affix a small metal object like a quarter? Can you easily remove the affixed item? Thank you** A: I ordered the Clear Museum Gel, which is for glass & crystal, which worked very good on those items (sticking a glass plate to a glass bowl on a pedestal). This product is for that sort of use, & for adhering items to shelves (such as figurines), to prevent them from falling. It works very well, & is very easily removed, by twisting the adhered item, & rubbing off the excess gel. There evidently are other products from Ready America, called Quakehold Museum Putty, & also Museum Wax (the wax is for more permanently placed items & wood furniture).
