GREAT SHARP FLAVOR.BUT PRICY BUT WORTH IT!

First order arrived without ice and in a regular package. The seal had broken on the outside of the cheese and it was leaking. It was obviously not safe to eat, so we requested a refund. We cautiously put in a new order and were rewarded with a cheese that arrived in foil packing with an ice pack. The taste was rich and nutty, and deeply satisfying.

This review is for the Snowdonia Little Black Bomber and Green Thunder cheeses from Wales. A few years ago, my wife and I stopped in Betws-y-Coed for a few days. On a beautiful, sunny afternoon, we visited a local cheese shop for a snack to take on a streamside walk in the hills above town. I chose a nice wedge of Black Bomber, which is an extra-sharp cheddar. Delicious! Of course, the afternoon and the beautiful location may have contributed to my memory, but, whatever the reason, it stuck with me. Since our local cheese shop doesn’t carry any Welsh cheese, I decided to look on-line and was please to find I could order “Little Black Bomber” from Amazon. When placing my order, I also noticed the Snowdonia Green Thunder, which is described as a “creamy mature cheddar with garlic and garden herbs”, so I added that. I ordered the cheeses on October 22 and they were delivered November 25. I was nervous about the long delivery time and the warning on the Amazon web page. The padded envelope they came in was marked “Air Mail”, however, so perhaps they weren’t in transit that long. In any case, inside the envelope the cheeses were both in what seemed to be a vacuum-sealed bag. Opening that, I found the wax coatings had a slimy-feeling dampness on them, and the wax on the Green Thunder had about a one-inch shallow gash in it, exposing the cheese beneath. I wiped off the wax and refrigerated both. I am please to say that, in spite of my doubts, both cheeses served up very nicely. I suspect they were a little worse for wear due to the time they spent unrefrigerated, but they were still very good. I would order them again, but would recommend not doing so in warm weather. If you like sharp cheddars, the Little Black Bomber is a great choice. It has a rich, nutty flavor that is and excellent example of Welsh cheese. I don’t remember the cheese we had in Betws-y-Coed being quite as crumbly as the one from Amazon, but that may be because it was fresher. The Green Thunder also had an excellent flavor and, in fact, exceeded my expectations. It was very creamy in spite of the “extra aging”, and the garlic and herbs were a tasty complement to the cheese itself.

OH. MY. F-ING. GOD. This cheese is amazing! I saw the company making it all fresh on Gordon Ramsey's Unchartered show and knew I had to have it. Went to their site - everything was sold out. They probably only offer eight products, but still. So, my second stop, Amazon. It came to me somewhat temperature controlled. I lived in AZ (NOT a hot day, I wouldn't have bothered to order otherwise) and it kept well in its bubble wrap and one cold pack. We had a cheese night surrounding just THIS cheese and it was 200% worth it! I will say, I like a little bit of crystals in my aged cheddar, and this had none. I don't know if it's because of storage or what, though.

Good delivery time packaged well great cheese

My wife and I discovered this cheese on a summer vacation to Wales. We are avid hikers and wanted to get some easy to carry items to have for lunch while at the top of some of the peaks in Snowdonia. A local market suggested this cheese so we gave it a try. Wow were we shocked how good it was. So much so that we searched everywhere to try and find it again and thankfully Amazon has it. Well worth the price. It has a wonderful sharp and strong cheddar flavor without being overwhelming. The texture is amazingly smooth and creamy and it even has those small salt crystals inside. If you love cheddar then do yourself a favor and order this. You will NOT be disappointed.

In assoluto uno dei migliori cheddar che abbia mai assaggiato. Consistenza corposa e pastosa (tipica della lunga stagionatura) che paradossalmente, si scioglie in bocca. Molto gradevole sia alla vista, sia ai fini della conservazione, il rivestimento in cera. Caldamente consigliato a tutti gli amanti non solo del cheddar, ma anche di tutti i formaggi inglesi in generale: questo formaggio è letteralmente la loro bandiera! Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo: considerando l'alto valore gastronomico del prodotto, il costo richiesto lo definirei … moderato. Nota di merito è sicuramente l'assenza delle spese di spedizione, anche senza l'opzione "prime". Tempi di spedizione medii; imballaggio solido, robusto ed estremamente accurato (confezione in legno ben sigillata, munita di abbondante paglia all'interno).

Just Perfect

Strong, creamy, long aftertaste, perfect on cheese board. Another product from Snowdonia that i had bought for christmas but it was opened mid december. Leave to get to room temp. before you taste and you will not be dissappointed. If you like strong cheddar with a fabulous bite then this is the one.
