Fanless PC for when you need one

I turned my closet into a recording studio for my SO. Needed a silent PC for a simple task: record audio from a USB microphone to Audacity, then move it to a cloud drive. At first I thought this task should be simple enough for a Raspberry Pi to handle, but in practice, it couldn't keep up. The recording would have clicks and pops, some google fu lead me to believe it can't handle the stream. The other downside is me having to setup and support that linux environment for her. For example, the RPI would blank the screen but the monitor would not go into standby mode. Maybe I could figure that out but I'd rather not have to.I was in the process of putting together a N4100 mini-itx system, but I couldn't find a power supply that suited my needs. I don't need 100w psu, or 50w for that matter. This little box has everything I need. Probably more processing power than necessary for this usage. USB A and C on the front panel is nice, as USB C devices start gaining traction. Sequential reads from the SSD move at 250mbps, and the WIFI maxes out my WAN bandwidth of 150mbps.The only thing that drew my attention was somewhere in settings there was a message that I couldn't change some settings due to policy settings, and it made me a little uncomfortable that this windows setup has been "configured" by some company out of HK. Installed Win10 LTSB, but had to manually find and install drivers for the intel graphics adapter, intel Gemini Lake drivers, and some other stuff, even though they were all on MS update catalog website.

Great Win10 PC & Fast

The unit initially powered-up and setup WIN10 Pro without any problems. The unit has updated WIN10 Pro a number times smoothly and fast with the 4GB memory. Easily installed a 120GB SSD to supplement the 64GB internal. The unit runs very cool as does the AC adapter. Fast wifi connections to my wifi ports. It has all the needed functions/ports one might need, e.g. HDMI, ethernet, 5 USB (2-V2, 2-V3, 1-micro), microSD, and a VGA port. Given its size, features, & speed, it's an excellent buy.

Slim, starts up quick

Slim, easy to set up and hides nicely behind my tv. Hooked up with my tv and using a Bluetooth keyboard. Works perfectly.

Worked great out of the box

Purchase this PC for older relative who didn't like cables and wires etc. The end user just wants mostly to surf and use for emails. Handles OFFICE 365 with no problems. Was able to attach it to back of HDTV. Wifi was excellent good signal. Make sure you get 64gb so handles windows 10 updates. Very happy with this product

Defective power port, no power on after power fail

I've don't think I've ever used a device that was so close to awesome, but ultimately completely unfit for its intended use. This unit suffers from two flaws that together maek it useless. The biggest problem is that the power plug is a cheap barrel plug port which loses contact when the plug is wiggled causing the machine to power off. I tried multiple units and all had the problem. If you never brush the cord or move the unit at all, it will work, but on a normal desk it will be shutting down all the time. The second problem is the lack of a "power on after power fail" BIOS setting. Even with the above problem you could still lock the box away in a server room where nobody would ever touch the power cord and use it as a network appliance, but with it locked away you need it to come back by itself after a power outage. The vendor's forms just say that they acknowledge that this feature is missing and they don't have any plans to add it.So with the first flaw you can't use it as a desktop, and with the second flaw you can't use it as a server. The price is great for a 8 GB RAM / 64 GB drive machine, but I'm definitely disappointed.

Great product

The miniPC works super fast and very easy to setup; the only complain is that it does not have the option to re-start after a power failure which is very important for some application.
