I'm 99.99% sure it's real D2, if it isn't it's a steel that acts just like steel will's D2 (in sharpening, edge retention and corrosion resistance level). It also has every feature and perk you can ask for on a liner lock knife, at any price, ceramic ball bearing pivot and detent ball (yes, ceramic), sculpted and textured g-10 scales (not flat slabs), inset skeletonized liners (4.25 oz. weight), two tone blade finish. deep carry tip up pocket clip and as good as it gets fit and finish. The only tiny nit pick is they messed up the sharpening choil a bit (like just about every knife maker does these days). I'm not really sure what more you could have on a liner lock, it doesn't need over travel stop or lock bar insert and custom hardware is something to avoid. If this isn't good enough then you're setting yourself up for disappointment in knives, at any price point. It blows away the competition in the sub $50 category, in blows away most of the competition at twice the price, it's still damn competitive at $150, d2 steel is the only thing keeping it from being super competitive at $150, if this were s35vn then it would still be. Look, do yourself a favor if this is the price range you normally get knives at, buy it. Buy it and it will be the nicest knife you've ever owned. Outstanding. I’m amazed at the quality we’re seeing in Chinese cutlery. Fit and finish on this Scimitar is truly flawless. Deadnut blade centering when closed. Flips like butter. And I only paid 39 bucks for this? I have Case, Buck, and old US Shrade worth quite a bit more, QUITE a bit more that I swear to Christ this Bestech is equal to or better than...39 freaking dollars folks. I’m a convert, no doubt. If I absolutely had to nitpick. Ok. Packaging and presentation on first look. It was wrapped in plastic in a box.Honestly though for 39 dollars don’t even hesitate. Do yourself a favor and grab a cuple.
