defean Headband for Audio Technica M50 M50X Headphone

So a few years ago (2012), I received a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force Tango cans as a gift. The sound quality on them was always pretty damn good. But my god, they were absolute garbage by just about every other conceivable metric. They were relatively overpriced, the battery life was insufficient for day-long gaming sessions, the 10 audio presets that you could cycle through were confusingly numbered instead of just being called whatever their intended use was, the headband appeared to have been designed for someone with a watermelon for a head (literally leaving about an inch of space on the minimum setting), and even the gimmicky Call of Duty announcer man who lived inside of them became annoying as he insisted on repeating "Battery Low!" every 45 second whenever said battery was indeed low. Despite all that, they still did look pretty damn cool! So after quickly giving up on using them, I set them up as a neat decoration and there sat ever since. Until now. So we recently got an awesome new Samsung Smart TV and for some reason, out of all devices, this particular high-end 4K TV from 8 years later just so happens to pair PERFECTLY with these headphones. After years of being effectively useless due to comparability issues with PC, PS4, Xbox consoles, various TVs, and basically everything else under the sun... the receiver for these Tangos is literally immediate plug-and-play after directly hooking it into the TV via USB and its original Optical Cable. Not even Bluetooth headphones have such a seamless connection, and even the audio quality is higher to boot! But Turtle Beach had one final card up its sleeve. As seen in the photos, the leather-like vinyl that they used for the Tango was ABSOLUTE SHIT. In fact, one of the ear cups literally disintegrated in my hands and the headband was all torn up (just from normal seasonal temperature changes alone)! But I was not to be easily dissuaded. I was determined to not let these damn things go to waste even after all these years! Installing them both was a bit tricky, especially the sleeve as I had to also add a bit of foam underneath just to counteract the previously mentioned gap. But ultimately I prevailed and in doing so, have finally been able to take full advantage of these headphones! Not only do they sound great but for the first time, they are actually comfortable! I will definitely be getting the Earpads again at some point for my Steelseries Arctis 5 (they are about the same size) as they are probably the best that I've ever used and I also highly recommend this sleeve to anyone who needs to repair a torn up headband on any headset that they wish to save from an early retirement.

Great option for replacing the worn ear pads and headband pads on your Cowin E7 headphones. The original ear and headband pads deteriorated and started flaking off over time. I hardly used these headphones and were surprised that the pads began flaking off. The ear pads fit perfectly. Be sure to remove all the adhesive so the new replacement ear pads can attach properly. The headband pad is made of fabric with a zipper and is a universal fit to fit over the original ones. The quality seems equal if not better than the original.

The way this fits makes it quite the challenge to get on initially, but in a way that's a good thing. It is very form fitting to the head and feels very secure. The material it is made of feels strong ebough to last years of use. My only negative is that the zip used to close the protector is left hanging at the end once it's put on. It would have been nice if the protector had a lip over the entire zipper to hide it aand keep the zip in place. This would also prevent the potential for the zip to be an unexpected bit of exposed metal that wouldn't usually be there (potentially scratching surfaces that the headphones wouldn't usually scratch.) The zipper design aside though, these definitely get the job done of protecting the headband material or, as in my case, covering up an already fraying headband.

It took years after the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X spiked in popularity before someone figured out how to fix the flaking headband issue. Here it is, and it's priced fairly. I've tried another brand from Amazon, but this one here looked the best, primarily because the stitching is smaller and tighter so it looks more professional than homebrewed. It may not look as nice as stock, but it looks similar enough to not be an eyesore. And it adds additional padding. Installation is not difficult once you figure it out. The stretch ensures a snug fit. Overall, this headband fix, or protector, was only a matter of whether someone decides to make one. It's not rocket science, but a professional looking fix likely wouldn't emerge without a demand for it. The popularity of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X provided that demand.

It took some trying but I was able to apply it to my m50s and avoid replacing the headband all together, which evidently requires soldering to the speakers. I don’t notice the added material on the top either, so that’s a win. The zipper felt a little flimsy honestly but I figure as long as you apply it once you’ll be good. Totally worth it.

I had a pair of ATH-M50s for a good few years and the headband flaked and wore out within the first few months of use. Inevitably I had to replace them, this time with ATH-M50xbt headphones, which are basically the same but wireless. I wanted to protect them in advance from wear and abrasion, so I picked this up because it looked to fit my needs . Putting these on was easy, and they've held well without fuss. I was originally concerned about the zipper and my hair, but no problems there either. Would have liked a thin extra strip over the zipper to guard from hair snags, but as it is it works really well, and looks clean and professionally made.

I thought zipper was backwards too, when I removed it from package. Have the material side on outside and wrap around headphone headband bringing the zipper head right side up. Take zipper end and put into zipper head. I noticed when zipper handle was flat, the other end of zipper went in easier. It's a little tricky to get it started but once its together it works fine. Pull together ahead of zipper while zipping. Watch video also at left of picture of cover. I have a MOVSSCU E7 headphones and these fit fine. Looks so much better than the worn out original headband. (very similar to Cowin E7)

I'm a brain surgeon who enjoys listening to music while I operate. I've owned the AT M50X for several years and they have been absolute work horses, giving me aural pleasure through hundreds of complex surgeries and ultimately helping my patients. Unfortunately the material on the headband of the M50X seems prone to flaking (at least on my headphones). This caused some pretty awkward moments! For example, I was operating on a patient once and as I leaned forward to begin the closing procedure, a few flakes of M50X headband material fell into their brain! I tired to remove the material using clinical tweezers but it's really fiddly and kept breaking up. After this had happened about 36 times, I decided I needed to act and so purchased these headband covers. The cover was very easy to fit to the headphones although I admit I had to do some trial and error with the zip placement. Once fitted it feels extremely comfortable and 'good as new'. I am now proud to report that there has been a 100% reduction in material flakes in my patients brains.

This fits perfect for my M40! The price is a bit expensive for what it is but since it works well and saves my headphone (band is peeling...), it's still a good product!

100% Perfect for Audio-Technica ATH-M40x flaking FIX! For those that are on the search for affordable, comfortable and quality this is the go! I spent a while looking around on many sites for the best price and quality and found this for $13.99 AUD. Made from what feels and looks like wetsuit material (Neoprene) tho its listed as Elastic. Quality stretch material, zip and stitching (Looks and feels like it will stand the test of time.) To stop the flaking problem with Audio-Technica's I used black electrical tape from the hardware store (Deta PVC electrical insulation tape) as its less sticky than duct tape so if I need to remove it, it won't be an ordeal and that will stop the flaking issue. I then used Automotive stereo/wiring loom harness cloth tape (Tesa) over the top of the PVC electrical tape for comfort and to add grip (incase the protector moves etc). Protector was easy to put on (Unsure why people complain its hard in the reviews?) took under a minute to do all of the above.
