Hollyland Lark A1 (2TX + Lightning RX), Wireless Microphone for iPhone/iPad

I’ve been using the Hollyland Lark A1 for recording videos, and I’m honestly impressed with the audio quality, especially for its price. The microphone is small, lightweight, and very easy to use. The setup was quick, and the wireless connection has been reliable so far. The audio sounds clear and the noise cancellation does a good job of reducing background noise without making my voice sound too unnatural. I also really like how compact the transmitters are, since they don’t get in the way when recording. Battery life has also been good for my use, and the charging case makes it convenient to keep everything charged and ready to go. For content creation, vlogs, interviews, or everyday videos, I think this is a great option if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a professional microphone. Definitely worth it for the price.

I have a YouTube channel with about 100,000 subscribers and I found myself without my normal equipment one day, so I bought this system to go with my iPhone camera in a pinch. And I have to say I've been very impressed at both the sound quality and convenience this provides vs. my normal setup (a wired mic going into a portable recorder that I then sync up to the video separately in DaVinci Resolve). The sound quality is more than acceptable and, while maybe not pro-level, is easily adequate for long-form YouTube videos. And it's really just a plug and play system; plug the receiver into the phone, snap the mic to your shirt via the magnet, and it just records via either the regular phone camera or Blackmagic. I also appreciate that the USB-C receiver works just as well with my Windows laptop, so I can easily record inserts or voice-overs while editing. And it's just ridiculously easy without any wires to deal with. I think this system would serve any beginner working on making longer form videos just fine for a pretty long time. It is a huge upgrade over any built-in phone or laptop microphone, and sound is honestly the most important technical aspect of any video. People will watch your videos as long as they have decent sound. Bad sound is the quickest way to get someone to switch off. One big caveat is to make sure you know what you actually need. I initially bought the "duo" system with USB-C only (I'm not sure why I did that; I have an iPhone 14 Pro). I ended up returning it for the "combo" system that has both Lightning and USB-C receivers, as well as the charging case that adds another level of convenience. Of course, that package is more expensive. But if you opt for one of the versions with only one receiver, just make sure it's the correct one for the device you plan to use with it. And to go along with that, also think about whether you're eventually going to want a system that works with a real camera, because this won't. It's strictly for phones and laptops. There are wireless mic systems out there that will work with real cameras, but they generally cost more. I personally just wanted kind of a temporary stopgap to use with the camera I had on hand, which was my iPhone. The laptop connectivity with the USB-C receiver was a bonus. And for what it does, I think this mic system is a bargain. Just make sure it can actually do all you want it to do before jumping it.

Outstanding mics for the price just make sure you take your time setting everything up. For one, make sure you check the mics and remove the blue plastic on top of the metal charging squares. Do this by rubbing it softly with your fingernail. Afterwards, place the mics back in the charging box and see if the red or green light is on. The light will let you know the connections are solid. Charge the mics inside box by using the white cable and power source. Light outside box will turn green but make sure everything inside is fully charged. Second, do not update the firmware right away. Both mics and possibly both receivers need to be on and connected . I have not updated mine yet because everything works fine without the update. I saw a message saying updating the firmware without the devices being synced or connected may cause miscommunication between devices. So heads up…. Third, close all of the unnecessary apps, links, etc. Hollyland and camera app is all you need. After opening the box, scan small square with your camera to download correct app. The comments in Apple App Store are terrible mostly because most didn’t read my review. lol. Mainly complaining about connectivity probably because they downloaded firmware update way too early! Practice using the mono and stereo modes…..noise cancellation modes also. The app makes everything easy. You can see remaining battery life, volume control, and other options. The size of this is perfect in my opinion. Versatility….working progress. You can mute sound, start and stop video by clicking so many times. Truthfully, it’s hit or miss sometimes but for the price and sound clarity….,hard to beat. I’m using a IPhone 13 and have not had any issues so far…..one week in with my fingers crossed!

If you are a content creator looking to upgrade the quality of your videos, I highly recommend this mini mic. The carrying case is super cut and convenient and the quality of sound is incredible. It has a noise cancellation feature and it is very easy to connect to your devices. I especially love the connectors, as I am able to us this mic with multiple devices! This mic is perfect for anyone looking for quality sound at a reasonable price. AND you get to choose fun colors :)

Buy the mics! I’m not a person that ever leaves reviews, but the Hollyland Lark A1 brought me out of my shell to say something. I just received the mics today and was excited to test them out. At first look out of the box they are ADORABLE! Super tiny and lightweight. I also love that Hollyland included a little drawstring bag to hold the cord and little wind furry things in. I popped these adorable little gems into my iPhone 15 Pro Max and became even more impressed. The setup is super simple (you have to download the Hollyland app). Once I plugged them in and started recording video I am actually stunned at how well they sound. I purposely turned on loud noises in the background (inside my bedroom) such as my fan and white noise. I turned on the medium noise cancellation and I couldn’t hear the background sounds at all. The best part is my voice/audio sounded clean and crisp and not like I was in a box (like some other brand mics do with NC). The quality of the mics feels very premium. The size of the charging case and accessories is super portable. Easily fits in my bag for daily carry. I’m just blown away at how great and simply the Hollyland Lark A1s work. This has proven to be an excellent purchase. I love when it comes with a case for charging, I love it everything except the mic covers fit in the case and the magnetic attachments are so easy to use! Each of us needs a mic for different reasons and so I’m glad that we ordered the set that has two different types of connectors. So far, we are very happy with them and the quality is excellent. I actually hate the sound of my voice because I have something pressing on my vocal cords that has distorted it but these make me sound like a whole new person! My grandson just had a birthday and I bought a set for him.

I LOVE THIS THING! SIX stars! How about TEN STARS?!??! I don't know how I ever got along without it. I live fairly close (1/3 of a mile of so) to a major highway, and anything I'd shoot outdoors always had road noise. As you'll see in my video, the Hollyland Lark A1 put an end to that problem! It's absolutely night and day! Easy to set up. Literally just plug and go! If the receiver is plugged into your phone, the phone automatically switches over from the built-in mic. The app is straightforward and easy to figure out. Holds a charge for a good while. Seems like 60-90 minutes or so? I haven't actually measured it. But considering there are two, you can use one while the other one charges. The magnetic clip is just fantastic. SOOOO much easier and gives you WAY more options than a traditional mechanical, tension clip. And I LOVE the compact size compared to all those big, clunky things you see sooo many people using lately. SO much less distracting in your images. And the price!??!?! It's unbelievably affordable. I'd gladly pay $100, maybe even $200 for this mic! Is it AS GOOD as a $1000, pro-level mic? NO. Is it as good as a $300 semi-pro mic? Probably not. But I think most people would have to have them side-by-side to notice a difference. (if there was any at all) As far as any negatives... Mostly trivial! I wish it had a hard case to store everything in. BUT the "box" does have well-fitted compartments, so I guess that will get the job done! And the magnets are so strong that if one mic is in the charging base, the other will try to yank it out as you try to put it in next to it. It does also seem to add a little bit of distortion to your voice. But for the price? I'm quite happy to call that "personality," along the lines of tube distortion in an amplifier : ) I can't believe I've been shooting videos all these years without this. And if you get it, I'm certain you'll feel the same way!

Es buen producto. La batería dura años. Me di cuenta que se escucha mejor si el micrófono lo uso en mi mano cerca de la boca, en vez de ponerlo en mi ropa, porque en la ropa se escucha un poco lejos y agarra ruido de la tela o movimientos que hagas. Pero se resuelve teniéndolo en la mano como un microfono normal o poniendolo en la ropa pero más cerca de la boca y sin moverse tanto. Para calidad profesional* recomiendo comprarse un micrófono de estudio. Esto es más para contenido, entrevistas, youtube, etc. y funciona muy bien.

Pros It worked well with the recording app. Cons It looked like kind of returned item, opened and already assembled. It didn’t meet my expectations. I intended to use it with video calls (eg. Whatsapp) and translation apps, but they are not compatible. I use an iPhone 13.

Amazing quality product. It is value for money, has great battery life and connectivity. It is small in size and easy to carry.
