I don't go anywhere without a couple of these in my handbag. I have a diabetic dog who needs these to exercise. One tube revives her and gives her the energy she needs to continue. I'm also a teacher and have used dextrogel tubes to help a type 1 diabetic pupil if her usual snacks don't correct hypos. These tubes have saved the day every time. Highly recommended.

Have used this for the past couple of years for my dog who has an insulinoma. It is highly effective and acts quickly (a couple of minutes usually sees an improvement in a hypo though it can take up to an hour for her to return to normal after a bad episode). She must find it highly palatable as she will always lick it, but if that were not so (and sometimes she has been so weak she seems hardly able to coordinate her tongue), you can smear it on gums. It is very expensive if used frequently (which we were doing) - we have now found we are far better giving her a very small amount of table sugar every 3hrs (teeth considerations aside) to actually prevent the hypos and we are now investigating the monitors to see if that will help us. The tubes are for a human dose and have a snap off top without the ability to reseal so the bottle with screw cap worked better for us.

Thank you Government. By taxing sugary drinks, Lucozade reduced the amount of sugar in their drinks, which meant that it is now useless for hypos. Dextrogel is a fast and effective antidote to low blood sugar. Easy to carry and fast acting.
