Max visits the Women's Book Club
My dog Max is a bit of an escape artist. The last time he got loose, he wandered into a neighborhood womenโs book club, where he acted as though he were starving and was promptly lavished with food and attention. It was a funny ending, but it also made me realize that I needed a reliable way to find him quickly if he ever escaped again. Choosing a GPS tracker was not easy. There are essentially three major brands in this category, and Fi appeared to be one of the leaders. After reading through a great many reviews, I chose the Fi Series 3+ because it seemed to have the fewest one-star ratings. More importantly, many of those negative reviews appeared, when read carefully, to involve setup mistakes or user error. With some competing trackers, the negative reviews seemed more likely to point to actual problems with the products themselves. My Fi Series 3+ Smart Dog Tracker Collar arrived within two days. I was immediately impressed by the packaging, which was right up there with what you might expect from an Apple product. The instructions and setup process were equally impressive. Everything was so clear and precise that I was able to get the tracker working without having to backtrack, reread anything, or troubleshoot a single step. That is certainly not the case with many technology products, and it demonstrated the companyโs attention to detail. I prepaid for 12 months of service so I would not have to think about monthly payments. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the Fi app had a 4.7-star rating in Appleโs App Store. I then added the App to my wifeโs phone. After all, if Max escapes again and crashes another womenโs book club, I want both of us to receive the alerts. Her phone paired with the tracker quickly and easily. The most challenging part of the entire setup was attaching the tracker to the collar, and even that was only because the attachment mechanism is extremely well made. There is a spring-loaded flap that is the same color as the latch. After removing the small protective plastic covering, you need to flip open the spring-loaded latch before sliding it over the tracker. Once you understand that, you are off to the races. The next step was testing it. This was especially important to me because the most common complaint about dog GPS trackers in general is that they supposedly fail at the exact moment you need them. I left my phone in the driveway, told my wife where I was going, and walked down to the end of our cul-de-sac carrying the tracker. When I returned about two minutes later, my phone had received two notifications: one when the tracker passed the end of the driveway and another when it reached the end of the block. Both notifications included addresses, and both locations were perfectly accurate. My wifeโs phone received the exact same updates. She was impressed, I was impressed, and I believe most buyers will be impressed as well. Spending a little less than $200 to help ensure that your dog does not end up lostโor become coyote food on some random evening when he decides he is in the mood to exploreโis money very well spent. So far, I am extremely pleased with the Fi Series 3+ and feel much better knowing that, should Max make another great escape, we will have a much better chance of finding him quickly.

Extremely disappointed
Absolutely terrible experience. I could activate the tracker, but then I was effectively soft-locked out of the app because it couldnโt figure out how to apply the membership. It took me to a blank screen with an error message and no way to clear the error except to uninstall/reinstall the app and try again. The AI chatbot was useless. It declared that my issue was resolved simply because I was able to activate (but not actually use) the tracker. It did eventually escalate me to a human via email. I provided screenshots (attached here) showing the error and how I was locked out of the app. The best they could say was that theyโd pass it along to their software team to investigate. So Iโm returning the product. The app is terrible for creating a soft-lock in this situation. They really didnโt anticipate that someone might need to access parts of the app without an active membership? Customer service was not helpful. I donโt trust this product to help if my dog gets lost.

Great collar!
Love this collar! I have a beagle who is an escape artist! Heโs had it for about a month. Last night he got out of the fenced in yard . The app on my phone immediately alerted me to the situation. It gave me his location. He was heading back to the house when I got him. He was hurrying because his collar was flashing a white light! No more lost dogs! Highly recommend!

Works great but expensive for multiple pet home
Update: VERY DISAPPOINTED. MY DOG LEFT THE SAFE ZONE FOR 6 HOURS AND THE COLLAR ONLY TRACKED FOR 35 MINUTES THEN FROZE AND COULD NOT CONNECT TO NETWORK. TRIED CUSTOMER SUPPORT AFTER FINDING MY DOG ON MY OWN. NOTHING RESOLVED. FI DID CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION BUT HAVE TO RETURN COLLAR TO SUBJECT TO THEIR APPROVAL I MAY RECEIVE A FULL REFUND. IT WAS WORN SO NOT HOPEFUL I'LL GET MY $200. I AM BACK TO MY ORIGINAL TRACTIVE TRACKER. WORTH THE SHORTER BATTERY LIFE AND BULKYNESS TO KEEP MY DOG SAFE. This is my second Fi. My first was for my dad after he was hospitalized and his girl ran away for 31 days. Once home we vowed to have her every move tracked! Thankfully, she's never run away again. We were able to set up her new home once dad passed easily away. Our Rottweiler went on an adventure with the neighbors dog and was missing for 12 hours. He was wearing another popular tracker (along with my other dogs) but he had already been off our farm over 30 minutes before notice was sent to my phone ...neighbor notified me before his tracker. After finding him I immediately ordered him a Fi tracker. The Fi stays charged a full month for us on our other dogs and looking forward to the same with our Rottweiler. His current one only stays charged for a 7-9 days. I love the smaller and less bulky Fi as well. The subscription cost is the only reason the rest of our dogs are not using Fi.....cost is prohibitive for our multiple pet home.

Zuko tested and approved
The Fi collar gives me a lot of fun info about my dog. Twice it has given me alerts that my dog left the safe area and the alerts were incorrect, but one time it alerted me and was correct and that helped me to quickly know my dog was wandering and I was able to quickly find him and bring him home. I recharge about every 10 days when it gets to around 50% power so I know it always have enough of a charge if he gets lost. The rankings of how much your dog walks compared to others in the city, state, and your dogs breed, as well as all dogs on Fi is cool and fun to watch.

A life-saver
The system is easy to use. App works very well. We have a young Jack Russell who doesn't bark when distressed (too busy trying to figure it out by himself, like any good Jack) and a neighbor who abandoned the property and his large number of feral cats: eye candy for a terrier. Our pup was trapped inside of a large animal pen and doesn't bark so without the FI we would not have found him. Very reassuring to be able to accurately locate our doggy when he goes out of his territory, as well as to monitor his sleep and activity. Absolutely worth every penny!

Not for pet containment.
Weโve only had this for a couple days and itโs features are nice for monitoring you pets health. However the geofence feature is very misleading because there is no training or deterrent feature like I would have expected based on its description. This feature only alerts you if/when your pet leaves the geofence area and does nothing to stop you pet from leaving.

Worth it!
Works! I got it to make sure if my dog got lost I could find him ... As he is so adorable anyone that found him would want to keep him lol. I'm able to set up a home premeter to notify me when he leaves. It tracks steps and sleep. I find the steps helpful to remind me to get him moving and walk. Never had any issues and had it since Nov. I plan on keeping it as long as I have a dog. Worth the peice of mind.
