Obviously Alien and Aliens rate as the top two, but I would easily rate Romulus in 3rd place. I enjoyed the way it throws you right into the simple plot and premise of the haunted shipwreck, and the actors Cailee Spaeny and David Johnson deserve every praise in bringing heartfelt and relatable characters to centre stage - so essential for this movie and rather lacking in Prometheus and Covenant in particular. Another thing that really struck me are the superb production values: the colour palette, the special effects and practical effects, and the audio quality really added to the film. The 4k Bluray presentation is OUTSTANDING, I'm so glad I got this one on physical media. Very very disappointingly though, it's presented in 2.4 to 1 ratio, whereas I believe it was originally shot in IMAX 1.90 to 1, so we miss out on the superior immersive experience it could have provided (thumbs down to the studio and/or IMAX licencing I assume). I knew it wasn't going to be Alien nor Aliens, I didn't need it to be. Rather, I simply wanted it be a good Alien movie, good/simple plot, excellent characters, well made, and no frakking woke messaging - for me it delivered on all counts.
