Delight for History connoisseurs!!
Beautifully written and it trenchantly captures the Zeitgeist of the black era.Sometimes it smacks of self aggrandizement but at times it feels a perceptible reality also after absorbing the context. Importantantly it has come from the perspective of a man at the helm of affairs of the most devastated district during the peak of the militancy. Some of the chapters are really revealtions, especially the role of the governors during those tough times...

An eloquent narration in the first person
A first hand account of the post Blue Star terrorism in Punjab, by the DC of the most important district among the infected- Amritsar. An account detailing different waves of terrorism due to various political decisions, and countaractions by the terrorists and their handlers.Sh. Sarabjit Singh states the story about the patriotic Punjabis who let the state machinery run amid the peak of violence- the reason why the state was able to survive through the 17 year long bloodbath that no other part of the independent India has seen. Wish no one ever gets to see in future! After reading this, you'd respect every nook and corner of Punjab and the valiant Punjabis- people who came forward to fight with their .303 against the AK47s
