Q: What's the expected lifespan of a eagle cassette when drivetrain is properly maintained? asking since 50t is aluminum and it's about 4x more $ than xt

I put over 5000 miles/630K vertical feet climbing (lots of torque on the cassette) mountain trail riding on my original XO1 cassette (two years of use). This was the cassette that came on my new bike. The XO1 cassette was pretty much worn out at this point. I put on a GX cassette in early January 2020 and have over 2000 miles on it now. I went with the GX cassette because it is nearly 1/2 the price of the XO1 and only slightly heavier (about 400 grams). So far it is holding up well. SRAM recommends changing the cassette at 2500 miles which equates to one year riding for me. I consulted with my local bike shop and they encouraged a change out the cassette at 3500 miles; I opted to wait until 5000 miles. I maintain the bike well so that contributed to the longer life. I wash the bike after every ride and lube the chain too. I change the chain every 650 miles or less based on chain stretch measurements to minimize a worn out chain prematurely wearing out the cassette.
